Our lives are made up of a series of first times.
Now, before you start thinking this blog post is where I describe losing my virginity and giving up my V-card, I should probably expound on that thought. That's not what I'm referring to, even though ... now that I'm thinking about it ... it was pretty anti-climatic. No fireworks. No "oh my gosh, I did it ... I'm a WOMAN!" Just a little awkward and a whooooollle lot of nerves.
Anywho, I digress.
When I opened my phone today, I caught a glimpse of the date - December 28th 2015.
To most, it's just an average, run-of-the-mill day. It's one of those "in-betweeners" where it's three days after Christmas and three days before the New Year. If you're like me, you're chilling and trying to catch your breath for the next exciting adventure. #exhaustedbuthappy
Or you're celebrating an anniversary of sorts.
Today is one of mine, and like the title suggests, it revolves around some pretty profound and life changing FIRSTS. Want to know what they are?
Glad you asked! *winks*
First, today marks the SIXTEENTH anniversary of me arriving in the U.S. on holiday. That actually makes me snort a little because I was so naive back then. I honestly believed that the few short weeks I'd planned to visit friends and be a tourist evolved into something MUCH, MUCH MORE. #neverwenthome #byebyeAustralia
Secondly, today marks the SIXTEENTH anniversary of me meeting my husband! Most have heard our story--how we met online and over the following few months chatting each day for hours, we finally met up at LAX. (Los Angeles airport) The goal was to spend my stop over before flying to Salt Lake City with this "new" guy and see whether the spark I felt via the internet was real. #isthislovethatiamfeeling #hellosweetie
Which leads to my third point ...
Today marks the SIXTEENTH anniversary of my FIRST kiss with my husband. When you picture where you had your first lip lock with a special someone, where did you envision it? Somewhere quiet? Romantic? Intimate? Mine was standing in line at McDonalds. I remember turning to Mark, looking into his eyes, and BAM!! I leaned in and kissed him. No warning. No lead up. No "Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy, so here's my lips ... kiss me maybe?"
While I might not earn any points for location, that kiss became the first of MANY! Don't believe me? Ask my in-laws who still talk about how they watched their son make out with the strange Australian girl he just met. Once our lips touched ... it was INSTANT chemistry.
So there you have it ... the FIRST TIMES I'm remembering today--that I'm celebrating. I believe each moment matters because they evolve into something wonderful. February 14th will be our SIXTEENTH wedding anniversary--another date that forever changed my life.
How about you? Does today herald a FIRST TIME memory for you? And if not, what's something you can do right now ... today ... a first you've always wanted to accomplish?
Life's short and meant to be lived. Be brave and see what new experience you can conquer! Feel free to comment below. I'd LOVE to hear from you <3
Happy December 28th!!
