Put Away The Pitchforks People - Judith May

I don't know what's made me sicker the last few days - the stomach flu that's driven me crazy or the pitchfork wielding fools that think it's ok to dictate to a woman how she spends her evening. I'm sure everyone has heard about it but honestly, this whole deal with you can't be an English teacher and a published author if you're wanting to write romance is complete crap! Poor Judy May (her pen name) has been outed in the most horrible way by a bunch of judgemental parents. From what I've read, here is a woman who is a successful teacher whose helped many students in her career and she's been portrayed as a deviant because in her spare time she writes erotic romance. She keeps both professions separate and from what I hear a lot of people knew. For some reason though, certain parents "found out" and went on TV and exposed her. I'm horrified for Judy that people could be so narrow minded and cruel. Her behavior has been above reproach so I have no idea why people think it's ok to lynch her *sigh*

Anyway, today while I was catching up on Facebook, I saw a youtube response from one of her former students that I loved and I wanted to share it with those that are also following this. Hope you enjoy it.

Someone Had The Right Idea - Twilight Saga

Enough said, right?

Be Still My Heart, Damon #3 - "And there It Is"

I had so much fun this episode because I got to watch it side by side with my BFF and we were in HEAVEN. It continues to amaze us how entertaining and gripping each episode is and how Damon just gets more intense and sexier than heck! We love watching him - his facial expressions, his snark and the range of emotions he goes through. He was in FINE form last week and we can't wait to see what happens next!

Feature - Spank The Book! Reading For The Adventurous

I'm going through a sexual revolution which is plain to see by the books I'm reading. As a romance reader, there are so many different books and subgenres to discover and I'm having a BLAST diving in and seeing what's out there. The gusher that I am, I wanted to find a way to showcase the more adventurous reading I've been doing - those reads where the scenes are so hot and steamy that a change of sheets is required once your done - the books so exciting that all you want to do is grab your flogger and spank the book. This is the feature where I'll do that so grab yourself a paddle and join in with the fun!

Blowing Off Steam #1 - Reviewer Bashing!

This has been a hot button for me the last few weeks and something that I've either almost bitten my tongue off over or had to walk away for a LONG time out. You may agree with what I'm about to rant over or not - and that's ok because that's the beauty of having a personal opinion. This is mine.

Hands up how many times we've read a review and TOTALLY disagreed with it. Usually the reviewer has shared their thoughts over a book we absolutely adored or where we have a personal connection with the author. Reading the review, we can feel our hackles rising and we start to slip into attack mode - ready to defend the book/author to the death. But instead of addressing whatever issues were brought up or simply accepting this is one point of view, there are times it turns into a personal attack.

I've been guilty of this. I see a review and I think "Well the reviewer is an idiot. They're either insane or have no taste" I've seen others resort to name calling - "What a stupid bitch" "What a nut job" "What a freak" For my own part - I humbly apoligise because this is just horrible. Where the reviewer is most times addressing grammar issues, not connecting with story and characters or writing style of the author, the reviewer instead is being degraded and having their character defamed.

My New Post At Heroes & Heartbreakers: When HEAs Fizzles

There are certain romance series that make you catch your breath and have you counting down the very second until you can buy yourself a copy of the next book and devour it on the spot. And what causes you to obsess so profoundly? It's the delicious sexual tension between the hero and heroine.

From those first moments when they meet—and no doubt shared a few choice words, especially if your leading lady is feisty—you long for when Mr. Sexy and Miss Adorable throw aside all pretenses and openly declare their feelings for each other. All longing glances filled with smolder are over. Those heated conversations where you never know whether they’ll end up fighting or making out have passed. They’re in love and are set to live happily ever after—The End — and as the reader, you’re left in a huge contented gooey mess.

That’s all great when it’s the end of the series, but what happens when there’s still more story to tell? Can the couple still hold onto the passion that made them set the pages on fire? Or now that the hero has caught his gal, will the sexual tension between them fizzle, leaving the reader wondering whether getting the ultimate “happily ever after” moment was worth the risk?

Excerpt from The Trouble with Spells:
“It isn’t working you know,” his voice interrupted my
“Hmmm?” I questioned with a quirked eyebrow and pursed
“The clothes. Those horrible things you’ve been wearing,
shirts up to your chin, pants down to your ankles, the bad hairdos,
the quick kisses and hugs, none of it’s working.”
“What do you mean?” I asked, trying to appear as innocent
as possible.
He sat up suddenly, getting off the bed and striding over to
me, before he grabbed both of my arms and yanked me roughly
against him.
“I mean it isn’t working,” he said, his voice low and seductive.
His face was so close to mine that his lips brushed across my
forehead when he spoke. “You’re trying to help, and you’re
making it worse.”
I was paralyzed. I couldn’t have moved if I wanted to.
“When you wear your hair like this I just want to rip it down so
I can run my fingers through it,” he said, and without him moving
a muscle I felt the magic emanating from him. Instantly my hair
was released from its bonds, falling to cascade down around my
face. He moved his hands up my body until he reached my face
and then slid his fingers up to tangle into it. He grabbed a couple
of fistfuls, pulling back on it, causing my face to angle up toward

Blood Knot Blog Tour - Guest Post with Author Tracey Cooper Posey

Before we get started, I wanted to welcome Tracy to my blog and give her a BIG thanks! I recently reviewed Blood Knot and she was extremely friendly and helpful with answering my questions. One of the things I love most about reading and blogging, is being able to meet amazing authors, like Tracy, who care about their readers and TALK with us. You can find find Tracy on Facebook - friend her... she's an Aussie so she's AWESOME to talk with!

The Buffet That Is Romance and
How You Can Eat From It All

How you shop for romance novels and how authors write and sell them is going through a fundamental revolution right now.  I thought that, instead of doing a fluffy, feel good post promoting my novel, I would instead lay out how you, the reader, will benefit from the massive changes that aren’t just coming down the pipe...they’re already here.  They just haven’t popped into gear all over town yet.

I chose Belinda’s blog to do this post because I love and adore Belinda’s taste in books.  She gets romance, she understands sexual tension, what makes a good romance, what passion really means, and she really understands story.  Belinda is also open minded and able to experiment with new genres and I have personally experienced.

If you’ve been reading The Bookish Snob for a while, then you are a reader just like Belinda.  You get this stuff, too.  So you’ll like what I’m about to tell you, if you don’t already know it.  Most of what I’m about to say you’ll understand intuitively.  It just makes sense.  But it takes someone saying it out loud to make it jell.

The publishing industry is transitioning from paper books to electronic books.  Soon, paper books will be like candles:  they’ll still exist, but they’ll be expensive specialty items, while the majority of the world uses eBooks by default.  Already, eBooks outsell paperbacks and many publishers are already considering paperback rights to be subsidiary rights to eBook rights.

But the next big revolutionary step is that authors are shrugging off royalty-paying publishers altogether, and moving to self-publishing, using a number of platforms that let them publish eBooks directly to on-line booksellers like Amazon, Smashwords, Barnes & Noble and All Romance Ebooks.  They’re becoming independent authors.

Quick Taste -

"His breath came so hot, his mouth loomed so close. Desperation for more tore at her. "Elijah, I need more."
"Shhh," he said. He kissed her fingers when her hands tried to pull him closer. "I'm not going anywhere, love." He laid her hands at her sides.
"If I'm going to do the unforgivable, I'm going to make every moment worth my soul."

This books is amazing and totally SWOONWORTHY. I fell completely for Elijah and as a romance addict, I got my fix of sexual tension, sweet lovin' and fiesty confrontations.

Book Review - Man Frame

Man Frame
Emma Hillman
Erotic Romance
Rating: Slightly Giddy

Lucy loves her new neighbor. One, because he's seriously hot; and two, because he leaves his window open while getting himself off. What she doesn't know however is that Nate can see her too. Every evening, he watches her undress, the blue film covering her window not enough to mask her silhouette. He's already half in lust with her body and that's before he knows what she looks like, apart from her round breasts and even rounder ass. Things accelerate when Nate takes matters into his own hands and invites her to his condo. It was only supposed to be some fun between two consenting adults but suddenly there's another man with them. A man who's invited himself to the party and who seems to really enjoy looking at her. Rodrigo likes it even more when he's touching her, making her lose control in a way she's never experienced before. He's not dupe though. He can see how his best friend is acting with her. There could be something good between these two and he pushes them further and further, until...

The Bookish Snob Stars In Sexy Romantic Zombie Comedy!

The Bookish Snob has risen in infamy *blushes* as she makes a rather scandalous debut in Scott Gordon's The Crusty Englishman. With all the lust, gush and swooning that happens here is it any surprise that it's provided fodder for Scott's sense of humor *grins* Want to see? Think you're brave enough to take a peek? Ok... here it is!

Chapter Six

Elizabeth gazed into the creek as the wind swirled, tossing her blond tangles in her face. “Still nothing?” she shouted down from the bridge.
Old Man Wiggins waded through the murky water, proceeding cautiously to the deeper end. He poked the surface with the butt of his rifle, and drew closer.
“Anything?” Lizzie struggled to hold back the tears.
Wiggins looked up, and slowly shook his head.
“How convenient. Sunday mass is upon us, and Terrance is nowhere to be found,” she whispered. “Would you mind searching farther downstream?” she asked.
The old man nodded.
“Bless you, Wiggins,” said Lizzie. “And when you find him, let me have a few words before you shoot him.”
As he turned, a giant reptile leapt out of the water, snapping its massive jaws. The old coot fell backwards, firing into the trees. “Crocodile!” Wiggins cried, tossing the gun at it, and darting into the woods. The lizard scooped up the rifle, and swallowed it whole as the geezer fled.
“A crocodile?” said Lizzie. “Crocodiles aren’t indigenous to England. Unless…” The wind whipped her face. “…unless someone was to keep it as a pet.” She made the sign of the cross as the creature descended into the muddy depths.
“What sick mind would keep a crocodile as a pet?” Her words hung in the air.

Terrance jumped as gunfire erupted in the distance. “Good gracious, what was that?” A splash of water trickled down his naked body, the creek coming to his waist. Poking through the foliage above, shafts of light bounced off his chiseled frame. He doused himself in the icy waters, whipping his dark locks back.
A gentle breeze swept through the woods, turning his skin to gooseflesh. As a twig snapped nearby, the rogue turned, trying to pinpoint the source.
“Who’s there?” He stepped out of the water, and peeled his dank clothes from a branch. Terrance did not bother putting them on, holding them at his waist as he searched the trees around him.
“It would be wise to invest some caution in these waters,” came a woman’s voice. “Many foul things bathe themselves here. It is not uncommon to catch smallpox or the bloody flux in such streams.”
Terrance stalked the trees around him, unable to locate her.
“Here,” a voice came from behind.
A tall woman with long, dark hair and a matching robe leaned against a tree, her eyes glued to a book....

Book Review - The Prairie Prince

The Prairie Prince
Marcia McClure
Historical Western Romance
Rating - Completely Seduced

For Katie Matthews life held no promise of true happiness. Life on the prairie was filled with hard labor, a brutal father, and the knowledge she would need to marry a man incapable of truly loving a woman. Men didn't have time to dote on women-so Katie's father told her. To Katie, it seemed life would forever remain mundane and disappointing-until the day Stover Steele bought her father's south acreage. Handsome, rugged and fiercely protective of four orphaned sisters, Stover Steele seemed to have stepped from the pages of some romantic novel. Yet, his heroic character and alluring charm only served to remind Katie of what she would never have-true love and happiness the likes found only in fairytales. Furthermore, evil seemed to lurk in the shadows, threatening Katie's brightness, hope, and even her life! Would Katie Matthews fall prey to disappointment, heartache and harm? Or could she win the attentions of the handsome Stover Steele long enough to be rescued?

Teaser Tuesday #30

Teaser Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading and here's how you play..  Grab your current read and open to a random page. Share a couple of “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page. BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn't give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!) Share the title and author, too, so that other Teaser Tuesday participants can add the book to their TBR lists if they like your teaser.

One of my faves from the book
"Tell me something, Crusoe," Elijah said, positioning himself. A simple fake, a trick of the eye, and he'd escape with Sadie in his arms. "When Holly lay in your arms in your stolen moments, did she whisper my name?"

Actual teaser
"Sadie backed against the concrete wall, wariness creeping over her skin. His eyes were blacker than black. Obsidian. Steely. "Wha-what are you?"
Lyric cocked his head, smirking. "Can't you guess?"

For those who've seen the other posts, I've shared some chapters from this hilarious zombie romance called The Crusty Englishman by author Scott Gordon. I've been left gasping for air from laughing so hard and Scott's done it again with a new chapter. Hope you enjoy it!

Chapter Five

“What a lovely morning,” Sister Elizabeth sighed. “The chatter of birds in the air, the fresh scent of rosebuds and honeysuckles, the salty taste of the sea on the tongue…” Lizzie closed her eyes, and took a deep breath.

“And the fresh pile of manure by the wayside,” Terrance quipped. He poked his head out the carriage, and winked at a man with a frown that extended to the ground. “Jolly good work, Mr. Hague. Mud pies again, is it?” He sneered, and leaned back inside. “Too bad he’s only got one eye; no way to tell if he’s winking back. I guess that’s the price you pay for erecting a mansion among dung hovels. When you’re done breathing in that fine excrement, Lizzie, perhaps you’ll wash it down with raw sewage from the neighboring stream. Ooh…” he tried shaking it off. “I’m growing boils just thinking about it.”

“I will not let you ruin this moment.” The nun kept her eyes shut.

Terrance gazed out the window. “Oh yes, and who can forget the scent of Old Man Wiggin’s musty underwear hanging in the breeze? Hey Wiggins, I didn’t realize you wore underwear. You can have mine as well.” He poked his scarred buttocks out the side. “And while you’re at it, perhaps you can check your work.”

Random Scene From Harry Potter Parody

New Post On Writings Of A Dreamer - Chapter From Broken Promise

Okay, here's a whole CHAPTER from Broken Promises - it's one of the scenes I thought of when I saw the graphic of the book's cover.

He’d been banking on my clumsiness to give him an extra advantage  so the shock that I was still standing, cross bow pointed at his head, was obvious as he searched my face for the answer.
“You weren’t always so light on your feet Bree. There was once a time when all I had to do was look at you the right way and you would fall all over yourself. Can’t say I like the change.” His eyes roamed up and down my body as if to discern what other changes had occurred since the last time we’d met.
“There’s a lot of things that have changed Quinn, one of them being that you no longer have the same affect on me. You lost that ability the last time you tried to rip my throat out, remember?” I tightened my grip on the cross bow, hoping that the blatant lie I just said wouldn’t reveal itself in the slight tremor coursing through me.
Quinn began to move, starting with the slow pacing circle of a predator, a small smirk covering his face. Obviously something I’d said amused him and if I wasn’t careful, the small ground I’d claimed in this never ending battle between us would be lost.
“Oh I remember perfectly, Bree. It’s something I’m still looking forward to but I have to admit this new you has me intrigued. I couldn’t possibly kill you before I’ve had another chance to enjoy you.” He flicked his hand out to my face, using his fingers to twirl a strand of my hair ....

Get Your Swoon On - A Love Soul Deep

"The intensity in his eyes burned into me too deeply to care anymore who won. He buried his face against my ribs. He inhaled and exhaled a loud puff. I wound my legs around him, feeling so much need, I thought I'd lose my mind. My heart ached. My body ached. My soul ached more. I couldn't say the words out loud but I heard them. Don't leave me, Crew. With another gasp of air, he pulled away, coming up to look at me. He cupped my face.
"It's hard to go slow with you Sara. I don't want to walk in the rain, with you. I want to run. But I also want to stand still and get drenched."
