Fool For Books Blog Giveaway HOP

To say that I'm a FOOL FOR BOOKS is an understatement so to celebrate it, I went to my local store to see what books I could offer up as proof. So many decisions.... vampires... shifters... rakes and rogues.... Highlanders. So many heroes and dazzling romance novels to choose from. Could I tempt you to enter with a paranormal romace? Urban fantasy? Historical romance? Honestly, I was tempted to throw them ALL in my cart but a stern look from my hubby and I fell back on old reliable "Ee Nee Minee Mo"

See what my finger fell on....

Cover Cringe #1

I was looking around on Goodreads and came across a list of humorous, weird and shocking book covers. Some of them are just TOO scandalous even for me to show and I blushed HARD. What the heck were the authors thinking in having those pictures on their books? And some of the titles? All the brown paper disguises wouldn't make it safe to take out in public LOL So I have two covers that kinda walk the line but I laughed so hard I thought "To heck with it, I'll share!" Hope you get a giggle or two out of them...

A Belated SQUEE - New Night Huntress Cover

Ok, I know I'm late by a few weeks but SQUEE! Here's the cover for the new Cat and Bone's book, One Side Of The Grave by Jeaniene Frost. This will be book #6 in the Night Huntress series and it scheduled for release August 30th, 2011. Wooohooo!!! Two books in a year!! Double the fun, double the "Hello, Kitten" Not only is there a cover but there's an inside picture thingee (LOL I have no idea what they're called) I've been buying a lot of my books on Kindle now, but for this picture.... I'll buy the print just so I can hold, drool and stroke it! LOVE whoever designs her covers!

Let the "Yum, more Bones"
countdown begin!

Get Your Swoon On - Ordinary Angels

I just finished reading Ordinary Angels by India Drummond and I loved it. I came across a moment in the book that was so sigh worthy that I wanted to share it. Kinda set the mood for the rest of the week. Also as a side not, if you love romances with angels, this is definitely a book you'll want to get!

"You make me feel so human. I'm ... so imperfect compared to you."
He moved to the foot of the bed, and sat close enough to reach her. Running a finger along her waist and down her hip and thigh, he said. "Everything about you is real, Zoe. My human appearance is a shell. The whole of you, the light in your smile and the thoughts that dance across your face, the way you tangle your fingers in your curls and the freckles on your nose made by the sun's kisses - these things make you perfect."
He stood and turned her around, tilting her chin with his hand so she looked into his eyes.
"You beauty will deepen with age, with the natural shapes and growth that comes in life. THose things are beyond me. If you could see yourself the way I do, you would be in awe and would know why I cannot help but love you"

The Crusty Englishman Strikes Again - "Forgive Me Father, For I Have.."

Author Scott Gordon strikes again with the hysterical next installment from Terrance - our sexy shagging zombie. Want to know what happens when this snarky Englishman swaggers off to make his confessions to the local clergy? I'll share the first bit then follow through to Scott's website. If you missed the first chapter, click HERE

Chapter Two

Terrance stepped behind the curtain. “Forgive me father, for I have sinned. It has been…bloody hell...I don’t know, twenty years since my last confession?”
“Son, you are in the house of the lord. Please refrain from using profanity.” The elder whispered through the screen.
“My apologies, father.” Terrance nodded.
“Please, take a seat, and tell me your sins.”
“Where to begin?” Terrance rubbed his freshly shaven chin. “Well, for starters, I’ve been having sex with my mother three times a day for the past month.”
“Excuse me?” The priest pressed closer.
“Stepmother, actually. My real mother is a corpse at the bottom of the sea. Do not worry; I would think of such a heinous act with her, even though I’m certain she needed plenty of sexing up in her day,” said Terrance.
“Pardon? Did you say that you had sex with a corpse?”

Ok - you all realize that I read romance right? Hot, steamy, emotion packed romance with sexy Alpha males whether they be vampires, shifters, Highlanders, demons ... you get the picture *grins* What book or series would I like to put myself in *taps chin while I think* I recently read the Shadowlands series by Cherise Sinclair - I would LOVE to come face to face with one of the sexy Masters *blush* Oh heck yes! I'd love to go into the Of Witches And Warlocks series and finally get a kiss from Vance that I've been dreaming about *sigh* Gee, it's hard to pick because I love alot of the books I read and would give anything to be a part of the action and the passion. Maybe I need to clone myself and stick all my mini Me's in the different books/series. Yep, that's what I'll do! *heads off to find blue prints for a cloning machine*

Check This Out - A Romantic Zombie Comedy: Chapter One

I have a TREAT for you today. I've been chatting with a REALLY cool author lately and after some ribbing and urging, he's (yep he's a guy!) relented to writing a romantic zombie comedy. He was given strict warning by yours truly to make sure he made the guy SEXY and that there were to be NO parts falling off (just in case, Scott's armed with velcro and duct tape) And the trooper he is, he's already written the first chapter and guys - it's GOOD! I love my romance with a strong sense of humor and I almost peed my pants reading it. The lead character is Terrance and the man is a ball of SNARKY goodness (Scott calls him a bastard... but ladies, we like snarky... cocky... arrogant better) The second I was done, I knew I needed to share. So I'll cut and paste the first bit and then follow through to Scott's site. He's also working on another story called Enura and he has samples - also VERY good. Enjoy!

The Crusty Englishman - Chapter One

“I cannot believe I agreed to this.” Tess gazed over the rolling hills. She pulled her blond hair aside and tied it with a blue ribbon matching her dress.

“Come now, mother. Is it really such a chore?” said Terrance. “A splash of wine and a quaint meal in the company of your dashing son.” As he set down the basket, his lace shirt hung open, exposing his muscular chest.

He opened the bottle, and spotted the garner below. “Oh no, not that fool again,” said Terrance. “You must get better at staffing the estate.”

The garner staggered over crops, chasing away the family dog.

“That’s your father’s business, not mine. Besides, what do you think is wrong with him?” Tess asked.

“Isn’t it clear? Without proper education, the mind is nothing but a rotten core.” He poured a glass of wine. “That mindless twit doesn’t have a lick of academics under him. Ask him to read a book, and watch him stare at it like a hairy arse; ask him to spell it, and watch him struggle to squeeze it out his back end.”

Updates - Story Snippet, New Muse And Story Playlist

Something To Tempt You - A Snippet From Broken Promises

It goes without saying that the following is a ROUGH draft *giggles* but I really wanted to share what I've been working on. Hopefully you'll enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing it!

From a brief glimpse from the corner of my eye, I found Quinn standing further down the street, standing still with his need for me blazing in his eyes. This time his mouth began to move and I caught the words Help me before he turned again and walked away.
Adamant I wasn’t going to lose him, I trained my eyes on him and never lifting them, surged through the crowd, stepping through and over anyone in my path. Moving faster this time and not being restrained by the crowd, I quickly made it to where he had been and spotted him turning into the next street. With one more look over his shoulder, he disappeared.

A Blessed Gift Of Inspiration -  A New Muse

One of the best things I've done to nurture my writing is become a member on an online writing club. Not only does it help being part of a close knit community where everyone rallies around each other but you can also pick up some amazing tips to enhance your writing. The other day, Elizabeth from Some Sharp Words shared a list of what to do when you just don't feel like it. There was some great tips and one of the suggestions was to watch something that makes you think. It sounded like a good idea - I use listening to music to inspire me so it wasn't that much of a stretch to include movies and TV. Never has a truer tip been shared!!

The Power Of A Playlist

One of the very first things I learned as I began to write was the power of music in inspiring my muse. Sometimes life is so hectic and I have a million thoughts running around in my head that it's difficult to hear the creative urging to write. When I signed up for NaNoWriMo last year, it required a really big commitment and effort - 50,000 words in 30 days. With a muse that likes to hide, I needed something to coax her out so I created my Broken Promises playlist. I recently joined an AMAZING writers group on Facebook *waves "Hi guys!"* and we got talking about it. So here's the post I put together to showcase what I listen to...

The Vampire Relationship Guide, Vol 1 by Evelyn LaFont

So you all know I've started a new book promotion business. If you didn't, feel free to head over toThe Bookish Snob Promotions and check it out. My goal is to celebrate romance and the paranormal by promoting authors through blog tours. *whispers* I'm also looking for team members so if you're interested, sign up! Anyway, I'm currently working with author Evelyn LaFont and I'm really excited. Have you heard of her book? Here's the blurb and as a SPECIAL treat, (and I mean it's definitely a treat... for the eyes at least) the book trailer as well. Enjoy *grins*

Blurb

Josie wants what she’s never been able to have—sex with a vampire. When she receives an invitation to a party thrown by one of the world’s richest vamps, she doesn’t stop to question her luck; she just jumps into her favorite stilettos and heads out to the event of a lifetime, secretly hoping that she’ll come home with a party favor in the shape of a sexy coffin dweller. But the great undead, much to Josie’s chagrin, aren’t just pale sexbots with pointy teeth waiting to satisfy her carnal desires—they are dangerous…and sometimes cranky. With a single-minded focus on fulfilling her sole sexual longing, Josie unwittingly entrenches herself in the twisted and sometimes antagonistic world of vampire relationships with no one to guide her, but herself

Sounds really good, right? Now here's the trailer...

Now if that doesn't make you want to buy the book, I don't know what will.

Hope you all join me when the Tour begins and for those interested, there's a few spot left.

Happy reading everyone!

The Trouble With Spells Blog Tour - Meet Vance and Portia

I pull into the parking lot of the little metaphysical store, Milly’s Potions, Lotions, & Notions, which is nestled on the corner of a busy street in Sedona, Arizona.  The building, while not overly spectacular itself, is set against the back drop of the giant red rock cliffs that dot this area, making the view breathtaking.
I grab my notebook and pen, before I nervously straighten my clothes and run a hand through my hair, looking into the rear view mirror to make sure I look presentable before I head inside.
I find that I’m a little more nervous for this interview than usual, and that deals directly with who I’m meeting.  It’s not every day that I get to speak people who are involved with magic, and when one of them happens to be a deliciously HOT warlock, well…let’s just say it can make concentrating a bit difficult.
A little bell jingles over the door, signaling my entrance into the charming space that immediately graces my senses with beautiful sights and scents.  Organized shelves line the perimeter of the room, and strategically placed cube-like bins full of all kinds of different items, are in the interior.  Soft instrumental music is floating through the air, creating a completely relaxing environment.

Ten Hints You've Spent Too Much Time In Club Shadowlands

To start this fabulous new feature off, I'm going to make a list about a series I've recently become so addicted to, I read three books one after the other this weekend and just about overheated myself from it. For those of you unfamiliar with Cherise Sinclair, she writes an amazing series called The Masters of the Shadowlands and gives you a hot look into the BDSM lifestyle. Her Doms are unbelievably sexy and their subs aren't the only ones left begging when the book is over. For those who've read the books *grin* you SO understand this list and feel free to add your own in the comments...

Get Your Swoon On - Persuasion by Jane Austen

There's swooning and then there's swooning and without fail, Persuasion by Jane Austen has a scene that weakens my knees EVERYTIME I hear or read it and would probably be my all time FAVORITE swoon scene. Just thinking about it now.. my heart is racing, my stomach is dipping, skin pebbled and I'm feeling light headed and I haven't even read it again. The fact this book is also a movie makes me smile because guess what I'm going to watch next? Yep, my favorite version with Ciaran Hinds. Enjoy the swoon guys!

"I can listen no longer in silence. I must speak to you by such means as are within my reach. You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me not that I am too late, that such precious feelings are gone for ever. I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight years and a half ago. Dare not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death. I have loved none but you. Unjust I may have been, weak and resentful I have been, but never inconstant. You alone have brought me to Bath. For you alone, I think and plan. Have you not seen this? Can you fail to have understood my wishes? I had not waited even these ten days, could I have read your feelings, as I think you must have penetrated mine. I can hardly write. I am every instant hearing something which overpowers me. You sink your voice, but I can distinguish the tones of that voice when they would be lost on others. Too good, too excellent creature! You do us justice, indeed. You do believe that there is true attachment and constancy among men. Believe it to be most fervent, most undeviating, in F. W.

I must go, uncertain of my fate; but I shall return hither, or follow your party, as soon as possible. A word, a look, will be enough to decide whether I enter your father's house this evening or never
." - A letter to Anne from Captain Wentworth

*SOB* Get's me everytime!
*CLUNK as I fall to the floor in a "graceful" swoon*
