Happy Halloween Insight - Shudder Or Swoon!

Happy Halloween everyone!! To celebrate, I wanted to share a guest post that was recently posted over at Freda's Voice. I thought it was fitting so if you didn't catch it over there, enjoy!!

Werewolves – Shudder or Swoon?
As a lover of the paranormal, Halloween is one of my favorite holidays of the year. Everywhere you turn, you can find vampires, witches, ghosts and of course, it’s the perfect opportunity to gorge yourself on candy. I recently moved into a new home and I’m eagerly looking forward to decorating.  Can you imagine pulling up to my house and finding a cute sign outside welcoming you?
Since releasing The Mystic Wolves series, I’ve been particularly excited to get something wolfish, a reminder of Mason and Darcy. *Insert frustration here* I recently went to a store and wandered through the different aisles and was so disappointed. Is it just me being an avid romance reader but do the wolves in some of our favorite series really look like this?

Complete SQUICK!!
Can you imagine coming home and snuggling up to that? As I wrote scenes from Cherished, those tender moments between Darcy and Mason which even had me swooning, this was not what I had in mind. I think if Mason did look like this, all bets would be off and the anticipated mating ritual would be forever cancelled.  No, when I think werewolf, in particular my Alpha, this is what I have in mind.

Hello Mason!!

Now this is what I call sexy and the reason why I tell Darcy why she’s incredibly lucky. There are no hideous facial features or grotesque body parts, just glorious muscles and a well-toned body. (Come on, which would you pick?) Even turned, Mason wouldn’t look like this. Instead he would have the sleek body of a black wolf, one of grace and power. What kind of image is being projected to future romance readers if when they read the word “werewolf”, they shriek and run to hide? See why I’m frustrated?

The reality of it is I doubt next Halloween I’ll walk into the local Walmart and find a row of “sexy Alpha” masks. A girl can wish but it’s highly unlikely. Instead, I’ll grunt and roll my eyes, discretely trying to hide them behind the vampire masks. (Don’t even get me started on that, the vampires I read about do NOT have green skin. Sparkles maybe, but not green!) Meanwhile, I’ll keep writing the Mystic Wolves as I imagine them and keep the dream alive. *smiles* No need to thank me … happy drooling everyone!

Deep Blue Secret Blog Tour with Christie Anderson

I'm excited to be one of the blog stops on Christie Anderson's Deep Blue Secret Blog Tour!! I love being able to spread the word about new authors and fill other readers TBRs (hehehe I'm crafty that way) So today, I asked to share an excerpt because isn't that THE perfect way to showcase and tempt and tease? Here you all go ....

~ Book Excerpt ~

I moved near him and his hand guided me in front of the bench, but I turned towards him instead of sitting. His stance shifted back, pulling slightly away. I wanted to reach out and hold him, but I refrained, feeling unsure. I stood there unmoving, still gazing up at him. He was tall compared to a lot of boys I knew. I searched his face for any sign of reciprocation and moved closer. This time he didn’t move away.
“Thank you again,” I said softly, looking up at him through my lashes.
There was a long, heavy pause. I waited breathlessly for his response. His glowing eyes met mine and their radiance hypnotized me. I could see nothing else.
I felt it again, the unexplainable connection between us. Time slowed. I inched towards him, wishing for his lips on mine. His hand lifted gently to my waist, sending a thrill through me in every direction. Never before had I felt the desire to kiss someone so fervently, the divine first kiss I’d always dreamed of.
There was no trace of resistance left on his face. He leaned towards me and my heart raced. Our faces grew slowly together as I looked from his dazzling eyes to his inviting lips.

How'd that work for you? Would like to read another?

My eyes remained fixed on his face, spellbound, unable to look away. I feared he might disappear. His gaze met mine and his expression intensified. It seemed he felt the same way, like he knew me too.
Suddenly the earth stopped spinning. It was only the two of us moving together through space and time, as if the universe finally came into balance. His mouth turned up at the corners, smiling gently through his eyes. He didn't say anything, just looked at me thoughtfully like he knew what I was thinking. His hand brushed along my forehead, smoothing a stray hair through his fingers and back into place.
If I could freeze time, I would choose this moment. Of all the pleasant things I'd experienced in my life, none could compare. There was something unspoken between us, a feeling I couldn't deny. Something I couldn't explain.
You can find Deep Blue Secret here for just 99c

Come Get Your Swoon On - His Perfect Passion by Raine Miller

"Then why are you here, Mr. Rourke?"
"To remind you that it is in your power to stop this madness, Marianne. You can stop it. You know what you could do. The question is - will you do it? Will you?" His voice burned through the ocean breeze.
Oh, dear God! Could she have heard him correctly? He still wanted her? Even after she'd refused him? A proud man like him, willing to offer again, even in her low situation? Unbelievable. Still she remained frozen, afraid to look.
"Look at me, sweet Marianne. Show you beautiful face to me."
She started to breathe heavily. A warm flush penetrated and began to tingle through her. He had moved closer and was now standing right behind her. So close she could smell the spice of his cologne.
"Do it. Turn it around and look up at me. You want to, Marianne. I know you do." he whispered, near enough that his breath kissed her neck.

Bind Me - A New Release By Author Stacey Kennedy!

WOOT .... WOOT .... WOOT!!

I am soooooo FREAKIN' excited. I know I'm always that way but today, more than ever!! Guess what I'm sharing... one of my FAVORITE authors has a nw release and asked me to share a guest post with everyone! Stacey Kennedy is releasing her book, Bind Me and I guarantee it's as amazing as everything else she's written!! So without furth ado, here's Stacey!!!

WOOT! I’m thrilled to be back here at Bookish Snob. It feels like I’ve been away for too long! Today, I want to chat a little bit about BDSM. I’ll be honest before a year ago I had heard the term, but had no idea what it all entailed.

It wasn’t until I read a couple books on BDSM did my interest to write one develop. It’s not the whole floggers, chains, ropes…um…sorry got distracted there. As I was saying, it’s not the “sexual or pain element” of BDSM that appealed to me so much, but it’s all about the dom. That is why I enjoy writing these types of stories. I love being in the head of a Master. The way a man can see what a woman needs, more than she knows herself, is a great character to write.

I love the dynamics between a submissive and a dom. The mind play that goes on between them and the way that the dom seeks to give a woman pleasure she has never known so long as she puts her trust in him. For me, it’s incredible to see a woman discover something about herself that she didn’t know before. And it’s that journey that I find utterly sexy!

Top that with my love for Alpha men and you can understand why I love BDSM books. Doms are about as Alpha as you can get. Really, doesn’t that say it all?

Thanks again to Bookish Snob, and I hope you all will check out BIND ME to get a little taste of why I love writing BDSM books. Don’t forget to come find me on Facebook ( and Twitter (!/Stacey_Kennedy). I love to chat!!

Maquerade Tour -The Demon Kiss by Lacey Weatherford

Guess what time it is? Yep, it's Masquerade time BUT it also means it's time for....

It's been a whil since I've climbed up onto the roof tops of the book world and declared how AMAZING, SPECTACULAR, EPICLY FANTASTIC the Of Witches and Warlocks series is. If you haven't had a chance to read any of Lacey Weatherford's books, today is your LUCKY day.

As part of the IBC Masquerade event, Lacey is GIVING AWAY to EVERY commenter a copy of the second book, The Demon Kiss. Yes. FREE. All you need do is visit her blog and comment and you can also be entered to win her fabulous prize pack. But wait there's more.... there's an author there today, in disguise and if you can guess who it is, you get points to win a Kindle!!

So, before you head over, let me share my review for The Demon Kiss. Feel free to comment here as well and share what you think! I've said it once and I'll say it forever... LOVE THIS SERIES.

Can someone else's past come back to bite you?
After being drained of nearly all the blood in her body, novice witch, Portia Mullins, wakes up to find that her warlock boyfriend, Vance Mangum, has fled in search of his demon father. Determined to keep him from facing the evil alone Portia follows after him, unknowingly setting herself on the path of a new adventure that will take her, Vance, and their coven over international borders, into a foreign place where they will discover that the black magic which awaits them is far worse than they ever imagined. Portia finds herself tangled up in a web of lies and deceit in another's quest for demonic power in the excitingly romantic second paranormal novel in the Of Witches and Warlocks Series, The Demon Kiss.
Ready for my gush review?

This book left me begging for more and frantically searching the computer looking for the release date of the 3rd book. I think that Lacey Weatherford is a genius. She has followed up her first book (The Trouble With Spells) with a second phenomonal story. The Demon Kiss continues the journey in Portia and Vance's discovery of each other and their magic, with events that seem impossibly difficult and relentless in trying to pull them apart. Having overcome the danger of a near demon conversion, Portia and Vance embark on the journey of facing Vance's father, with the hopes of finally laying to rest the threat that hangs over Vance's fate. As I read each page, I found myself pulled deeper into the story and my emotions became tied to theirs. I loved the dynamics the author developed further with Vance and Portia and I have to say that they are rapidly becoming one of my favorite couples. Portia is more committed to doing all she can to support Vance and Vance is more determined to protect Portia at all costs. Both fall deeper into each other and for all lovers of romance, both of them sizzle on the page. One of my favorite scenes occur when Portia and Vance come face to face with the evilness that is Vance's father, Damien Cummings and as a villan, Damien definitely delivers the goods. Even through the pages he made my skin crawl and that's what I loved so much about reading this book. Not only did the author have my skin crawling, she also had me blushing through the kissing, sighing through the tenderness, laughing at the humor and cheering in those moments where Vance and Portia need it most. She has written the book in a way that engages both the mind and heart of the reader, taking them on a ride that they won't easily forget. I enjoyed every moment of reading this book and I definitely look forward to reading the next book in the series. I absolutely loved this book. Thank you Lacey for writing it.

Now head over to Lacey's blog and claim your copy!!

Expendable Blog Tour with author Maggie Jaimeson

It's my PLEASURE to have author Maggie Jaimeson on my blog today to share a book excerpt from her romantic suspense, Expendable. I LOVE sharing excerpts because it's the perfect way to wet your appetite so please .... enjoy and grab yourself a copy!

Book Excerpt

Sometime during the night, Jenna woke and screamed. A man rushed to her bedside and grabbed her arms, pinning her to the bed. She flailed against him, but to no avail.
“What do you want with me? You already killed Tanya. Go ahead. Do it. Kill me! I don’t care. Just do it, you bastard.”
He loosened his grip and spoke softly, “I don’t want to kill you.”
“Then what do you want?” Jenna searched through the darkness. All she could see was the shadow of a tall, muscular man. “I won’t stop looking into my sister’s death. I don’t care how much you threaten me.”
He turned on the bedside lamp and stepped back. “I’m not threatening you. You’re free to go, but I don’t advise it until daylight.”
She took a good look at him. If nothing else, she’d remember what he looked like so she could describe him to a police sketch artist—that is if she got out of here alive. His tawny hair was short, but not shaved like the military. In fact, it was a bit shaggy around the edges. He was tall, at least a foot taller than her, since his head wasn’t that far from the ceiling. In fact, his presence easily took up the whole room. He looked fit and tan. She’d guess he was at least 200 pounds. If he wanted to hurt her, he’d have no problem. And his hands. She glanced to them open at his side, as if he was consciously trying to appear non-aggressive. They were large hands. The knuckles alone were twice the size of hers—definitely a working man’s hands. This was someone who was used to being outdoors, used to pitting himself against nature. She pulled the blanket tighter to herself.
Jenna glanced around the room. Tongue and groove wood lined the walls and ceiling. The queen-size bed was topped in a heavy blanket with a Native American print. A slight breeze
cooled the air through a cracked window on the other side of the room. She shifted and something felt off.
She lifted up the blanket and gasped. “What the hell?” She was in only her underwear and an oversized T-shirt, not her own. No bra. No dress. No stockings.
“You bastard! What did you do to me? Where are my clothes?”
He slowly pulled a chair up to the bedside and she scrambled to the farthest corner away from him, wrapping the sheet around her. His dark brown eyes invited confidences, but she wasn’t in the mood for sharing.
“I’m not going to hurt you—believe me. If I’d wanted to hurt you, you wouldn’t be talking to me now.” He patted the pillow where her head had been. “Please, relax. Come back and we can talk.”
“I’ll stay right here, thank you.” Jenna edged a leg over the side and eyed the door. If he made one move toward her, she’d drop the sheet and run like hell. She didn’t care if she was half naked; it would be better than being raped.
“Start talking,” she said. “What happened after you hit me on the head?”
“I didn’t hit you on the head.”
“Right, and you didn’t kill Tanya, and you didn’t take her baby.” She stared at him, her teeth clenched. She could bite him too, if she had to.
“Who’s Tanya?”

Blog Tour De Force - Who Is That Masked Author?

A Masquerade, how delightful!

I do love to play dress-up. And what better place to play than a blog filled with wonderful books, and who better to share it with than my friends and fellow authors. I see Amber Scott has already arrived and Maxwell Cynn, or perhaps not. I'm quite sure that isn't Vickie Keire over there on her blog and I'm most certainly not Belinda Boring.

It is quite difficult to know who is who, now isn't it?

But that is your task. Twelve devious authors are running amok on each others blogs and nothing is as it seems. So where has lovely Belinda run off to? And who am I? We are just beginning our week of maddening confusion. You must visit each blog, read each post, before you can begin to guess our clandestine secrets.

12 authors, 12 blogs, 12 delicious books, and six days of mystery. But you will be well rewarded for your search.

Belinda Boring is offering her book CHERISHED. I've read CHERISHED and can tell you it is a beautifully romantic tale of werewolves and vampire blood. Werewolves and romance? Most assuredly. The love between Darcy and her alpha had me choking back tears more than once as Mason assures his future mate that she is truly cherished.

My novel...

No, that would make it too easy. You must work harder than that. Digging your way to the bottom of this conspiracy will take a clear mind and determined action. You must search your soul and the posts of the writer if you wish to dance at this ball. It will be a thrilling ride, right to the end. What say you? Have you devised a theory yet?

Need another hint? Maybe if I tell you who is posting on my blog? No, I don't think so.

I can only say she is an excelent author, but that doesn't narrow it down, does it? She is very good at selling books, perhaps she'll help sell a few of mine when she visits. But is that at all helpful to you? Probably not. This is a conundrum, now isn't it? Read on, faithful reader. Make your way around the Masquerade and see who you might uncover.

Someone near and dear is posting on Vickie Keire's blog today. That's sure to be a treat. And tomorrow the blogs of Augusto Pinaud and Ann Charles will host more masked authors. Perhaps their clues will be helpful, or perhaps they will only confuse. Until then, post your theories--or red herrings.

After all, subterfuge is the order of the day.

Want to see what others are saying about Cherished?

With each comment, you are also entered to win --

The Mystic Wolves Pack

A poster, book bag, book mark, stuffed wolf,
ecopy of Without Mercy and masquerade mask!

Have fun everyone and head over to the IBC website for more details and links to get your copies of each authors book!

Ghost Of A Chance Release Day CELEBRAT-A-PALOOZA!

Bet you didn't know when you woke up this morning, there was a book being released that is FULL OF DELICIOUS SWOON! I did and it's with giddy delight that I can sing from the rooftops .....

"Author Deena Remiel has done it AGAIN!!!"

Taking a detour from her sexy as heck Brethren, Deena has written a beautiful short story for Decadent's 1 Night Stand series, about two people desperately needing something and finding it in each other. I ADORE this story. So much that I asked Remy (he's the tortured hero ... yep, sigh if you need to because I sure did!) to come talk to me and he definitely stole my heart.

Remy Charles- *Standing outside The Bookish Snob's abode, I am awash with excitement. In just mere moments we are going to discuss my latest romantic story, Ghost of a Chance. In my opinion, Bookish Snob is the ultimate swoon detector and I'm anxious to see if my humble romantic and ghostly offering will elicit multiple swoons.*

Bels - *I'm so nervous about meeting Remy and can't help myself as I stand at my window and look out. Careful to make sure the curtains prevent anyone seeing me, I notice he's already arrived, and is standing outside. Butterflies erupt in my stomach because even though he's in ghostly form, he's just as sexy as I imagined him to be. Looking down at my clothes, I quickly make sure I'm presentable before I head over to my door. Fixing the last strand of hair by tucking it behind my ear, I open the door and smile* Hi Remy, I'm Bels. Please come in!

Remy - Are you sure you're ready for me? I mean, I am not your usual kind of man. I'm, well, complicated yet transparent.
Bels - Oh I wouldn't worry! You're fine.*I show you into the living room and offer you a seat, realizing I'm not sure whether you can. I look up at you a little confused and smile as you take the seat closest to the bookshelf* I'm so excited you're here. I've never really interviewed a ghost before so I didn't know what to expect. How about you tell me a little about yourself.

Remy - Thanks, Bels. Might I add that your name is so unique and your smile quite fetching. As for me, well, what you see is what you get, a ghost of a man. As clear as plastic wrap. I'm the eco-conscious owner of Global Responsibility, an eco-friendly multi-million dollar company.

Bels - Surely you weren't always like this though? How did you go from being a hot shot CEO to a ghost? I mean, if it's not too difficult for you to talk about...

Remy - It's times like these that I wish I could stall with a sip of water. *I chuckle nervously. How exactly do I approach this loaded question?* Well, no. I haven't always been this way. I'm just not ready to share how I came to be this way. It's just too painful right now. I hope you understand. Just know, I've been cursed and let's leave it at that.

Bels - *Instinctively, I reach out to comfort you, sensing the pain you're carrying and trying not to show. Heaven knows, I'm a sucker for a torture man and you are definitely that. I stop myself short, knowing that no matter how much you need it, I'm not able to touch you. Pulling back my hand and burying my curiosity, I can't help but ask ... * So why are you here Remy? Is there something I can help you with?

Remy- *I float around Bels' living room, stopping to look out the window, and turn back toward her* You reached out to me just now. You wanted to touch me, comfort me. It's impossible for you to do that, for anyone in fact. I... I'm so tired of this cursed isolation. I've been craving the touch of another human being for years now. It's the only hunger I ever feel to tell you the truth. *I sit down on her couch* I'm sorry, Bels. This is supposed to be an interview, not a therapy session. Although, maybe there is something you can do for me.

Bels - *I can't take my eyes off Remy as he floats about my room and my heart breaks as I hear the pain in his voice* If there's anything I can do to help Remy, that's why I'm here. *I giggle as I think about your therapy reference* I promise I won't even make you lie down on the couch while I take notes.

Remy - Ha ha! Oh Bels, you're a delight! So, I was wondering, could you, would you, share my story around? Maybe if my story gets out, it will save other men, who are currently neglecting their wives and families, from making the same mistake I did. Maybe they'll see the err of their ways and change before they wind up being cursed like me...

Bels - Oh absolutely! How could I not share your story? Everyone I know will absolutely swoon over you and want you for their very own. I think it's wise to want to warn other men the pitfalls of not cherishing the ones who love them *I start to feel a little headed over how considerate you are. You'd expect a man in your predicament to be bitter and angry, but to see you like this ... definitely swoonworthy* Could you do something for me, Remy?

Remy- For you Bels, anything... * I wink, but she can't tell*

Bels - Well, you know how I run The Bookish Snob blog? I'm kinda known for asking those I meet to do things ... crazy and sometimes naughty things and I'm wondering if you'd play along with me? *I'm a little nervous about asking because this is by far the most risqué I've ever been* I was wondering.... if you would strip off for me? I mean, I'm a big sucker for a well-toned body and abs make me weak at the knees and I've never see a ghost before and seeing how I can't touch you or ask you for a kiss or ... *I stop when I realize I've begun to ramble*

Remy - You want me to strip for you? Here? Now? Hmmm. Why Bels, you are quite the bold, randy woman aren't you? *I see you raise and lower your eyebrows and smile wickedly. I laugh and make my decision.* Okay, I'll do it. Hold onto your pigtails, lady. First, I'm grasping the bottom of my t-shirt and I'm pulling it up and over my head. Now, I'm unbuttoning the fly on my jeans, one at a time. I'm slipping off my shoes and socks. I tug down on my waistband, scrunch my jeans to the floor, and step out of the pile. If only you could help me with my boxer briefs, Bels... Ah, well, guess I'll have to take them off myself. All right! I am naked as a jaybird! What do you think? Like what you see? Am I buff enough for you, Bels?

Bels - *I squint real hard and can't help but pout* No fair Remy, I need to SEE you!! You've disappeared and I don't know where you are! *I turn in circles, looking around the room and find no hint to where you're hiding* Remy? Are you still here? Saying something! This isn't what I had in mind you know *I giggle*

Remy- *I breeze by Bels after picking up my clothes, as though they really matter, and try my hardest to plant a kiss on her cheek. No such luck. I sigh. I lean into her ear instead* Boo! Time for me to go, my dear. It's way past my bedtime. Thank you so much for talking with me today and sharing my story with everyone. I won't forget this or you...

Land Of Falling Stars

Gavin has returned to Arbor Rose after a discharge from the Union army. In this scene, Sophia is crossing a field with Gavin in her line of vision. She’s tormented by the wild, crazy feelings for the man, feelings she’s suppressed for years.

Sophia hadn't run last night. With Gavin's noontime meal in the linen napkin she carried—cold chunks of rabbit, crusty sourdough bread, and wild raspberries—her emotions warred as she left the manor.

Arbor Rose languished in a verdant cradle of sea green. The rhododendrons flanking the front porch swayed beneath a balmy breeze and roses clung to her mother's trellises. Beyond the empty cotton and tobacco fields, unspoiled forests grew. Well, not wholly unspoiled. Too many army mounts had widened the narrow footpaths when the blue coats fled Fredericksburg and moved on to capture Richmond.

She spied Gavin in the distance ripping apart a dilapidated gate that had once corralled her father's champion bays. His recuperation had resulted in a battle of wills between them for days. Preferring rum and laudanum to the concoctions she forced down his throat―vile herbs he claimed weren't fit for a goat's consumption―Sophia had prevailed. He'd never been able to deny her whims, and she took full advantage of his weakness by using every ploy known to her, including pouting, pleading and perseverance.

Saddened and bewildered by the changes in him, Sophia spent hours trying to sort it out. This included her torrid feelings for the man. A hard-edged restlessness and a cauldron of violence steeped beneath his cool exterior. She'd studied him gazing out her window with the knowledge that whatever haunted him lay miles beyond the borders of Arbor Rose. Pain dwelt in his eyes, so deep, not even she could penetrate it.

With every step she took, Sophia drank in every inch of that hard body. His shirt, a discard from Rolf's generous collection, lay draped over a fence post, revealing the bulging muscles of his chest. Her brother's castoff tan trousers clung to his powerful legs and narrow waist. His long hair, tied with a leather strap at the nape, afforded her a full view of the intense blue eyes and magnificent mouth. A day's stubble etched his jaw line above the tanned skin, which, in the harsh light of day, still lacked a healthy, vibrant hue.

The pulse at the hollow of her throat took on a strange cadence when his smoky gaze licked over her. She drew a deep breath, but it stuck in her dry throat. No matter how many times she told herself it wasn't possible, she couldn't rein in her wild attraction to the man. She spent the better part of the day convincing her dazed brain Jesse would return and the crazy feelings she held for Gavin would evaporate like a mist rolling out to sea. She loved Jesse, not Gavin.

Didn't she?
