Book One in the Brethren Novel series
Emma Livingston, a single mom, has been through hell—and back, so she thinks. While dealing with her five year old daughter’s night terrors, she attempts to live a normal life. That is, until the being from those very nightmares comes to visit her. Has her child been dealing with a real demon while she thought he was only a figment of an active imagination? Michael D’Angelo is known to everyone in Prophet’s Point, Arizona, as their loving elementary school principal. But to The Brethren, he is known as the most powerful Protector. Immortal and angelic does not mean he’s without doubts or fears. While trying to protect Emma and Hannah, his tortured past comes back to haunt him. Can he overcome it? Or is he doomed to repeat a failure he has lived with for what seems like an eternity? As Emma and Michael come together to protect Hannah, ancient secrets are revealed and faith is tested. When a prophecy is exposed, questions must be answered… Can Emma learn to trust enough to love again? Can Michael believe in himself enough to show Emma how? And will they be able to protect an innocent child, not to mention save the world as they know it, from total annihilation?
So without further ado, I give you the amazing Deena Remiel!
A Tortured Angel’s Soul
~“Oh God, no!” he moaned. He looked at Emma in utter dread and tore away from her before she could say anything. He jumped off the bed, but didn’t know where to go, so he staggered his way to the farthest, darkest corner of the room, turning his back to hide his humiliation.~ excerpt from Trinity, by Deena Remiel
Humiliation, mortification, a tortured soul. How did an angel, a Brethren Protector, Michael, reach that point in his immortal life? It is a surprising story of revulsion and rejection.
Across millennia, people have revered angels, looked upon them with awe and wonder, believed them to be guardians. But there were some who felt differently. Unfortunately, Michael came across a few that forever warped his self-concept.
Now, being a Brethren carries with it much responsibility and opportunity for danger. So it was that they pretty much stayed away from any romantic entanglements. However, Michael was different. When he manifested into his corporeal form, he felt the need to connect with others around him. Maybe it was the Protector’s qualities that urged him to create relationships. The need to protect and comfort others was so strong, how could he not get involved with humans?
Problem was, he was a man now; a man with needs and desires for romantic encounters with the human women around him. A millennia or more ago, when Michael manifested, superstition and magic were at the forefront of religion and daily life. So when it became known to his lovers that he was an angel, they were repulsed by his wings and rejected him, fearing for their lives. No matter what he said or did to quell their fears, the women were brutal with their vicious barbs and threats to expose him as an abomination and a product of Evil. Ironic how they were so quick to judge him as being born of Evil rather than Good. He decided, from that time on, it would be best to keep his true nature a secret and began living a life denying his true self.
Eventually, he married. The MAN married. The ANGEL lay repressed inside, only coming out when duty called. He enjoyed his life with his wife, Beth, and savored the idea of growing a family together. She gave him a strong sense of normalcy, and although his true nature was hidden from her, the part that was exposed to the world, felt accepted and loved.
And then the WAR began between Good and Evil. His life of normalcy with Beth and their unborn child would forever be altered, leaving searing wounds that would never heal. Resentment, grief, and fury festered in his soul.
Enter Emma Livingston, and so the story of the TRINITY begins.
In my humble opinion, I think those women back then were absolutely crazy for being repulsed by Michael and shunning him. Have you seen a picture of Michael? Oh my, but he is hot, whether man or angel! His hair, all thick and black with just a sprinkle of white, you just want to rake your hands through and get a good hold so you can pull him towards you for a fiery kiss. His chest and stomach are works of sculpted genius, with hills and valleys that just beg to be traversed by your mouth. His hands were meant for weaving magic and they fail to disappoint. And now for his wings! Nearly beyond description, they are able to bring about such rapture and ecstasy, no mortal can compete.
Have you been enthralled by this angel who just begs to have you cradle him in your arms and make it all better? Grab a copy of Trinity today, and you can make that happen!
