Waiting For Pay Day

So, I've been spending alot of time scanning Amazon for free ebooks the past week and found two books I wanted to get. It was SO tempting to just "click to buy" but Christmas has completely depleted my account *pouts* So, I decided to resurrect an old feature ... WAITING FOR PAY DAY!! This is where I share the books I want and why with the hope they'll be graing either my book shelf or Kindle soon!

First up ....

Cast In Ruin
Michelle Sagara
#7 in Chronicles of Elantra series

Seven corpses are discovered in the streets of a Dragon's fief. All identical, down to their clothing.
Kaylin Neya is assigned to discover who they were, who killed them—and why. Is the evil lurking at the borders of Elantra preparing to cross over?

At least the investigation delays her meeting with the Dragon Emperor. And as the shadows grow longer over the fiefs, Kaylin must use every skill she's ever learned to save the people she's sworn to protect. Sword in hand, dragons in the sky, this time there's no retreat and no surrender…

Why? - I've been reading this series for beginning and I LOVE the world building and characters. It's definitely a series that has sucked me in and I can't wait to see what happens next. I know it's not strictly romance, but I LOVE good fantasy!

 Warrior's Redemption
Melissa Mayhue
Historical Romance

MALCOLM MACDOWYLT sees himself a failed warrior, haunted by the death of the woman he married to become laird of Clan MacGahan. Neither his Viking heritage nor his claim to descend from Norse gods can restore his confidence in his ability to protect his people. His sister is held captive, her life in jeopardy, and his Magically powerful half brother wants him dead. The last thing he needs is more responsibility, but that’s exactly what he gets when his Faerie mother-in-law arrives seeking justice for her daughter in the form of an enticing woman from seven hundred years in the future.

DANIELLE DEARMON has waited fifteen years to discover the life she is supposed to live. She just never dreamed she’d end up in the thirteenth century with a handsome Scot bent on saving everyone but himself. With the lives of those most dear to him hanging in the balance, Malcolm sets out to battle a powerful evil magic, only to learn that the redemption he seeks exists in the arms of the woman he loves.

Why? - It's a HIGHLANDER book. Enough said!

Is there any books you're having to "WAITING FOR PAY DAY" for?

Ghost Island Blog Tour With Author Bonnie Hearn Hill

I am so excited to fill in as the first stop on this brand new tour! It's going to be an exciting week learning more about Bonnie's paranormal romance, so let's get started! She did an interview with Kati over at Jagged Edge ....

Would you like to tell us a little about yourself? I’m a former newspaper editor who began as a copywriter for one of the country’s largest rock radio stations. I’m the author of six thrillers for MIRA books, a three-book young adult astrology series, and my newest, GHOST ISLAND. I also mentor and teach authors, which gives me a great deal of satisfaction.

What inspired you to write? I was born knowing that’s what I was supposed to do. I won my first writing contest—25-words-or-less; why I serve Coke at my parties—when I was in the fourth grade.

What authors influenced you as a writer? Poe was the first, then Shirley Jackson. Joan Didion is still one of my favorite authors. Her books set in California define so much of the lifestyle here. I also love the work of Walter Mosley and Larry Watson. That may seem an odd mix, but not if you remember that all of these writers have strong, original voices.

What is your favorite quote? “If you cannot get rid of the family skeleton, you might as well make it dance.” That’s Shaw. Isn’t it wonderful? It kind of explains my philosophy of writing.

If you could jump in to a book, and live in that world, which would it be? I love to visit different worlds in books, but I wouldn’t want to live in any of them.

What is at least one thing that every writer needs to have or do? Every writer needs a sense of humanity. Next to that, I would say honesty, an ability to look at oneself.

Are your books different than your personal favorite books by other authors? I write many different types of books, so probably, but not by design.

What led you to writing in this genre? My current book is a paranormal love story, and I wrote it because I really wanted to write about love, and about what we are willing to do for love.

What is your favorite part of the writing process? I love it all even when I hate it. The first draft is probably the most fun, even though I’m riding the bicycle up the mountain.

Least favorite part of the writing process? Trying to second-guess myself in the editing process. Hoping that I’ve written as honestly as possible.

What are you currently working on? A novel set in the past.

Where readers can find you? I’m on Facebook as Bonnie Hearn Hill, and my website is I answer all e-mail, and I hold frequent book giveaways on Facebook.

Was there a question you wish I would have asked but didn't? Perhaps advice for those who wish to write. My advice is always to turn off that editor brain and write your passion. You can fix anything but a blank page, and passion is the one element you can’t edit in later.

Thanks so much for hosting me today.

Breathing Books is the next stop on the tour!

As part of the tour, the author is graciously giving away:
Ghost Island book plates (until they run out)
and as the final stop ...

About the Author

When a story idea grabs Bonnie Hearn Hill, she is unable to break free until she experiences every aspect of it. In GHOST ISLAND, her new paranormal love story, she wanted to explore how far we are willing to go and give up for love. What will we do for love? What will we risk? If the perfect love came into your life, and you could see him only in your dreams, would you still desire him? Those were the questions that drove the writing of GHOST ISLAND.

A national conference speaker and contest judge, Bonnie leads a successful writing workshop in Central California and is proud to have mentored many published authors. She also teaches occasional online classes.

Bonnie’s first novel, INTERN, was called “a page-turner” by Publishers Weekly. KILLER BODY, a thriller about our weight-obsessed culture, was a Cosmopolitan magazine “pick.” She also wrote three newspaper thrillers and three young adult astrology books before the idea for GHOST ISLAND gripped her and refused to let go.  Because it's Christmas time, I wanted to share a holiday message with you all and who started talking? Mason! The Mystic Wolves - So There Was This Girl And This Boy

(This post was originally shared on the Cherished Blog Tour over at Sassy Book Lovers)

So There Was This Girl And This Boy
Introduction to Darcy and Mason

I think it’s safe to mention when an author starts writing a new story, they fall in love with their characters. I can say this because that’s definitely what happened with me. From the very beginning, Darcy has impressed me and Mason … well he flat out makes me swoon. Being able to share their story has been so much fun and it’s easy to get caught up in – the love and respect they have for each other and of course, the incredible passion. It’s every romance readers dream!

Funnily enough, over a year ago I wrote a story called The Promise of Heat. It told the story of a female werewolf who had a mother on the relentless mission of finding her daughter a mate. No matter who she introduced, this daughter wasn’t interested and it frustrated her parent to no end. The daughter was also annoyed because she had told herself she would never settle. She wanted passion, intensity as well as love and devotion from the one she married and until she found it, she would remain single. But where the mother failed, Fate didn’t and through a magical twist, led the girl straight to her mate. Little did I know then, this was about Darcy and Mason.

Darcy, to me, is an amazing heroine. She shows such strength and compassion for those around her but she’s not without her flaws. She can be incredibly stubborn but always, always there are good intentions behind it. We learned in Without Mercy, despite the urgings of Mason, Darcy will always try to resolve a conflict peacefully, looking to see if she can talk her way out of it instead of resorting to her werewolf nature. Unfortunately it backfired for her and the price she paid was too much to bear. We find her in Cherished, heartbroken and adamant the only way to make amends is to run. She’s not a coward but grief can make you do crazy things, right? I remember after losing my best friend two years ago, I didn’t think too clearly and this is what I love about Darcy. Although she’s supernatural, she’s also very human and it makes her relatable. You can’t help but feel for her as she struggles to find balance.

Mason, Mason, Mason. What a hero. If you’re like me, reading romance is all about the swoon and the sexy hero. You love the way he loves the heroine, doing everything he can to protect her, putting all things aside if he needs to. Nothing is more important to him than the woman he cherishes and if needs be, he’ll move heaven and earth just to see her smile. This is how I see Mason and judging from some of the comments I receive, others see him the same way. Here is the Alpha of the Pack with tremendous responsibilities. He’s lost his sister, his mate-to- be is traumatized and filled with doubt and on top of that, there’s a possible threat out there. What’s a young man to do? He stops it all so he can help Darcy. No hesitation, despite people waiting to talk with him. What an amazing guy! This doesn’t include how he makes Darcy feel when he looks at her, kisses her or when he reaches in and touches her. *insert sigh* Doesn’t he sound perfect?
Separately, these two are wonderful but together, they are extraordinary. I know, I know … I’m biased because I wrote the story but they have such incredible potential. They are a team, fully committed to one another and together they help balance the other. There’s no judgment between them, no viewing the other as weak. If there is a need, they are there to support and I can’t wait to see what’s in store for them. That kind of love and passion will definitely be challenged but hey, I’m a lover of romance so you know - they’ll always get their happily ever after … eventually!

Yep, by leaving your name and email address in the comments, you get your very own copy of Blood Oath and continue the journey with the Mystic Wolves. I'm so excited to share Mason and Darcy with everyone and here's a few teasers to tempt you ....

 ~ Mason & Darcy ~

“What is it about you that I can’t resist?” he asked, inching painstakingly lower until he hovered just about my mouth, barely touching. His breath was hot, seductive, and it caused a ripple of excitement to course through me.
“Must be my sparkling personality,” I whispered back, struggling not to close the distance between us. Electricity charged the air, the chemistry of our connection wreaking havoc on my hormones.
He feathered his lips lightly over mine, just the ghost of a touch and I whimpered as he retreated without fully claiming my mouth. “Must be because I can barely remember my name when you look at me like that.” His fingers drew a soft line down the side of my cheek.
“And how is that?” I purred softly, a sultry tone to my voice. My body felt as if it would explode from the way he seemed to drink me in.
“Like the world doesn’t exist, but for the two of us. How did I deserve you?” He kissed me again. This time a little slower, pressing harder, and I followed him involuntarily as he moved back. He was teasing me and driving me crazy with it.

~ Darcy and Devlin ~

“ … I know I’ll spend the remainder of my life fulfilling my promise, even when it means I’m stuck with a family member who thinks he’s reached bad ass status by calling himself Vlad.” He scoffed as he ran his fingers through his hair before crossing his arms over his chest. “Of course, maybe it’s an improvement from his birth name, which was Cuthbert. I called him Bertie for short, which annoyed him to no end.”
I snorted. “Really?” I asked, loving the way he was sharing about his family. I couldn’t remember the last time he had talked this long about himself. I was almost too hesitant to interrupt. “Well, it could’ve been worse, you know?”
“How so?” He asked, looking curious.
“He could’ve called himself Edward, or Jasper. Sparkling is the “in” thing right now.”
Devlin groaned loudly. “I would’ve staked him myself.”
Laughing hard, I grabbed my sides as I imagined him chasing poor Vlad around the room with a stake. Just when I thought I could stop, an image of Devlin glittering in the sun filled my mind, sending me into another round of hysterics.
“Now what?” he said, scowling at my laughter
“I was picturing what you’d look like as a Cullen. I think you’d totally rock the sparkle.”
“Yeah, enough.” He held up his hand, shaking his head. “Next topic.”

Giveaway - Love Is The Drug by K.E. Saxon

WOOT!! Nothing I love more than being able to give away books!! Today, as part of the Love Is The Drug giveaway blitz, author K.E. Saxon has agreed to give one lucky winner here an ecopy of her latest erotic romance!!

~  Here's a teaser ~

“That burger I bought you at the airport doesn’t seem to be sobering you up,” [Jason] said. Stopping in the entryway, he dropped his carry-on to the floor and looked down at her. “Maybe you should lie down for awhile—take a nap—before we go down to the casino.”
Julie’s gaze was pretty bleary when she turned it up to him. She blinked and stuck out her lower lip. “No. I wanna have some fun! Live on the edge! You promised.” She put her face closer to his. “Hey, has anyone ever told you how pretty your eyes are?”
“Pretty? No. That’s—”
“Well, they are.”
“—not a description a guy usually wants to hear about himself, if you know what I mean.” He grinned down at her. “But thanks. I think.”
“I like your lips, too. Keanu Reeves lips. Mmm. Sexy.”
“Keanu  Reeves? You mean that dude from the Matrix? You like him?” The flash of jealousy took him by surprise.
She plopped her other arm over his shoulder and said, “Yeah. I always wondered what it’d be like to kiss those lips.” Then she planted one on him. Tongue and all.

 ~ Official Blurb ~

What's a guy to do when he meets the woman of his dreams, but she turns out to be the sister of his most despised enemy?  Fall in love, of course!

This is the story of Jason Jörgensen, an excitement-loving bad boy and Julie Del Mar, the quiet, romantic dreamer who breaches his devil-may-care façade and helps heal the frightened boy inside. Conceived during a violent rape, Jason knows deep down that he’s no good. So, as far as he’s concerned, his plan never to have children is not only sound, but also the right thing to do.
Julie, orphaned at twelve, has now lost her surrogate parent—her older sister—to suicide. Returning to the only real home she ever had and someday making her own family is her most profound wish. A drugged-drink Vegas wedding brings them together, but a pregnancy test tears them apart.
5 of 5 stars! “ ...a mixture of fun reading, heavy emotional scenes...for a born romantic...the perfect way to spend a chilly day indoors.” From Goodreads review.

~ To win a copy ~

You must be OVER 18+ (this is an erotic title)
Leave your name and email in the comments

Good luck everyone!!!

~ About the author ~

K.E. Saxon is a third-generation Texan and has been a lover of romance fiction since her first (sneaked) read of her older sister's copy of "The Flame and the Flower" by Kathleen E. Woodiwiss. She is a member of the West Houston Chapter of Romance Writer's of America and is a devoted subscriber to the Romance Divas online forum. She has two cats, a 24-year-old cockatiel, a funny, supportive husband, and a garden that's been fried by the drought this past summer. When she isn't in her writer's cave writing, you can find her puttering in her organic vegetable garden or in her kitchen trying out a new recipe. An animal (and bug) lover since before she could speak, she made pets of all kinds of critters when she was a kid growing up. Her mother even swears that she made a pet of a cockroach one time (but K.E. doesn't believe her). She likes to write funny, sexy romances.

With winter here (I have the snow outside to prove it!) nothing warms the heart, then some steamy kisses and a love story! So enjoy, and follow the links to grab yourself a copy!

** Official blurb**

Amadeus Tudor is rock star royalty. Tudor is part of a musical dynasty, who has risen to a level of fame usually seen once in a lifetime. He’s the front man for Tudor Rose, one of the top selling, most beloved rock bands in recent memory. Zara Middleton, long time former manager and publicist to Tudor Rose has been brought back into the fold, this time as Amadeus Tudor’s personal body guard. Someone is out to harm Amadeus, the question is who. And why would someone want to harm him? He has no known enemies, his fans as well as his business associates adore him. As the new tour gets underway, unsettling things begin to happen and Zara wonders who among Amadeus’s new management team she can trust. The tour also finds Amadeus and Zara inseparable. As Zara becomes aware of long ignored feelings and emotions toward her former client, Amadeus takes charge, determined not to lose the only woman he’s truly loved again.

** Book Excerpt **

Time gets away from us as we sit catching up, talking about nothing in particular. I glance down at my watch and realize that it is almost two in the morning.

“Come on Zara, let me show you to your room. I know this has been a long day for you.”

He shows me to the bedroom, which is next to his. He walks in ahead of me and turns on a lamp. He hesitates for a moment before taking me in his arms, leaning over gently kissing me on the lips. We gaze at each other, as if uncertain how to proceed. This time he takes charge, nudging my lips apart with his as his tongue begins to probe and explore, an endless tangle of tongues and lips that leave me breathless. I wrap my arms around him as the kiss becomes fervent. I eagerly respond kissing him back wanting more. The moment ends with him holding me, one hand grasp behind my head. Frustrated he holds on then slowly releases his grip.

“I’m sorry, Zara, but I can‘t hide my feelings, no I won‘t hide my feelings anymore.”

     “Don‘t apologize. I don‘t want you.”

“It’s late. We both need to get some sleep. I’m so glad you’re here. I’m in the next room if you need anything.” He kisses me before turning and walking out.

“Amadeus?” I walk toward the door and his muscular body reappears.

“Yeah?” he asks, those incredible blue eyes draw me into his trance.

I can’t open my mouth, the sexual tension between us is so thick. My eyes can’t leave his. He’s so close I believe I may smother. “I, uh, I just wanted to say good night.” God Zara, what a crock, I tell myself. You want him so bad you aren’t making sense.

He cocks his head, curiously eyeing me, very aware of the underlying current, looking down at me. “Baby, you have no idea how much I want you. It’s taking every ounce of control I have to stand here and act like a gentleman when what I really want to do is gather you in my arms, throw you on the bed and fuck you senseless.”

Our eyes are still locked. I detect him draw a deep breath, not touching, just staring down at me.

I slowly raise my arms around his neck and pull myself closer, whispering in his ear, “Don’t hold back on my account.”
**About Jamie**
Jamie Salisbury cannot imagine a life without books. An avid reader of histories, biographies, and romance, it’s only natural that the products of her pen are historical romances featuring characters so authentic they spring forth from the page and shake the reader’s hand. Many of her teen years were spent in Chile, but she and her family were forced out of the country when the political climate demanded it.
Jamie now lives outside of Atlanta, but the love for travel has never abandoned her. Adventure, exploration, and intrigue permeate her prose to the core. These same traits have inspired her to digitally published her first novel, Perpetual Love rather than relegate it to the dreaded drawer. She couldn’t be happier with her decision to grab the publishing industry by the shoulders and force it to pay attention to all she has to offer. Now she returns with her second novel, Tudor Rose.

When Jamie sits down to write nothing can bring her out of creative trance except for her spirited Yorkshire Terrier, Rocco. In those few moments of the day when she is not writing or thinking about writing, she enjoys knitting, photography, equestrianism, and of course, travel.

Jamie hopes her writing will entertain, enlighten, and inspire others to pick up the pen and pursue their own dreams. She loves to be contacted by readers, writers, and history buffs. To touch base with the author, send an email to or visit her blog at

Teaser Tuesday

Wow, it's been so long ... let's see if I can remember how to do this!

L.M. Pruitt

"You did this, you know. When I walked into you office five mornings ago, I was perfectly same. Or as sane as I could be, given my cousin's disappearance." Warm breath caressed the nape of my neck, an erotic contrast to the cold press of fingers in the small of my back. "Now thoughts of you intrude on my every waking moment. And my sleep. The dreams I've had of you ..."

(Hehe - I gave two sentences and then some freebies!)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Happy Thanksgiving - A Lot To Be Grateful For

So much has happened this year, and I guess if I was just to take a quick look back, it wouldn't be too hard to see all the challenges I've faced. But you know what?? As trying as they were, I am grateful for them because when all is said and done, they've been me stronger, happier and more determined than ever. I learned this year just how loved I am, how amazing it feels to not just want something, but to then reach out and fulfil my dreams. I have been surrounded by some of the most amazing people, and I am so thankful for the support and unfailing friendship they've offered. At no part of this year have I had to walk through things alone, there's always been someone who has listened, and touched my life. I've had so many new experiences, I've taken new risks, and I can honestly say - I'm living my dream. There have been amazing stories I've read - ones that have made me laugh, cry, and swoon.

Should I Ask Santa For The New Kindle Fire?

I am so indecisive! It took FOREVER for me to finally cave, and purchase a Kindle because I was ADAMANT I was selling my soul to the devil. After going back and forth, I bought the latest Kindle and absolutely LOVED it. I don't know how I lived without it, and it's never far from my reach. Even though I still buy print books, I love being able to highlight and make notes, especially for when I want to remember my favorite parts.

Everything was right in my world, and then what does Amazon do? They release a BIGGER, BETTER and SHINIER version and I'm TORN. I've written out a pros and cons list to see if that helps, but what I need is some outsider input. Here's what I have:

It holds more books
It plays music and movies
It connects to the internet (like iPad)
It has a back light
It has color (covers)

It has bad battery life.
Back light causes eye strain

Looking at my list, seems like a no brainer, right? You'd think, but I keep arguing with myself. Why do I have an ereader? TO READ. Is it really worth upgrading so I can listen to music and watch movies? My first thought is no, because that's what my TV and stereo are for. If I'm traveling, I can use my smart phone for music, and I'm not much for watching. Plus what happens if I can't get to somewhere to recharge the battery? That long life is a HUGE factor.

Being the cover whore I am, I love knowing that I can have a colored ereader, BUT most ebooks I get, I don't usually see the cover so there wouldn't be that squee filled stroking I enjoy. It would be helpful for comic books and magazines, but I don't read them. I'm a romance readers, so my ABS would be in color .... if I saw them! Ugh ... see the indecision?

Money is a factor - I paid $189 for my Kindle and the new Fire is $199. Do I have that? It would be worth it, if I knew I'd get the use out of the device. Do I spend so much on a "Maybe I'll use it?" or do I wait. Another thought is - how many times does a company release product, only to use it as a way to find the kinks before releasing the "new and improved" version. Should I wait to see? This is killing me!!

So my question is this - what are your thoughts? Have you been battling with the same, or have you already purchased it? Are you enjoying it or is it something you could've done with out?

Blood Oath Is Finally Here!!

It's official - Blood Oath, #3 in the Mystic Wolves series is now available!! And just to give you a teaser, I wanted to share a little snippet ... Mason swoon ....

“I love you.” I smiled up at him, those three words letting him know I’d heard and would follow. Last night scared me, and no amount of independence was worth a repeat. “Now can you finally kiss me?”

My insides melted as I watched the slow progression of a heart stopping grin cross his face and the way his eyes turned to instant smolder. I licked my lips in anticipation, slightly breathless as I waited for him to lower his head and press his lips against mine.

This time a little slower, pressing harder ...

Don't you just LOVE him???

I'm not sure how many of you know, but I'm an Australian and moved to the USA close to 12 years ago. I loved where I was born and raised, still hold an incredible sense of homesickness and I'll admit, it broke my heart to leave but love has you do crazy things. I can truly say, I didn't know what patriotism was until I watched my youngest daughter, and it's been an experience that has deeply touched my heart.

I came right before 9/11 and was horrified by what happened. I joined everyone, watching the TV as report after report was shown and we were all devastated. But do you know what I also remember ? The incredible spirit that emerged - the way a country rallied. The way my daughter would beg each time she heard a patriotic song on the radio and sing it loudly ... proudly. The way her eyes would light up when she was able to honor the brave troops who were willing to sacrifice everything for her freedom. Our freedom. Such a little girl at the time but she taught me a huge lesson - for every privilege I enjoy, someone has fought hard for it. There's a few songs we love to sing - her favorites but I wanted to show one of mine.

American Soldier by Toby Keith
