NaNoWriMo - A Huge Success

28 days and 50,233 words later, I can finally take a deep breath and say...

YAY, I DID IT !!!

A HUGE HEARTFELT THANKS:

To those who gave me endless encouragement and didn't laugh at my teasers :)
To those who made my day by asking to read the end result :)
To those who cheered me along the way and threatened to kick my butt when I was ready to quit :)
To those that kept me sane when after all night writing marathons I thought I was ok to function :)

So what's next?

Broken Promises is still in the process of being written. I've hit the half way mark and my goal is to follow the NaNo schedule throughout December so by the end of the month it should be finished. Once it's edited *draws in a HUGE breath* I'm going to look at getting it published *tries desperately not to swoon* and then start on book two in the series, Bleeding Hearts. *looks for a paper bag to breath into*

Wish Me Luck !!

Here's what's up for grabs at The Bookish Snob

Books 1-3 of the Sookie Stackhouse series
by Charlaine Harris

Dead Until Dark

Sookie Stackhouse is a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. She's quiet, keeps to herself, and doesn't get out much. Not because she's not pretty. She is. It's just that, well, Sookie has this sort of "disability" She can read minds. And that doesn't make her too dateable. And then along comes Bill. He's tall, dark, handsome - and Sookie can't hear a word he's thinking. He's exactly the type of guy she's been waiting for all her life... But Bill has a disability of his own. He's a vampire with a bad reputation. He hangs with a seriously creepy crows, all suspected of - big surprise - murder. And when one of Sookie's coworkers is killed, she fears she's next.

Living Dead In Dallas

Cocktail waitress Sookie Stackhouse is on a streak of bad luck. First, her coworker is murdered and no one seems to care. Then she's face-to-face with a beastly creature that gives her a painful and poisonous lashing. Enter the vampires, who graciously suck the poison from her veins (like they didn't enjoy it). Point is, they saved her life. So when one of the bloodsuckers asks for a favor, she complies. And soon, Sookie's in Dallas using her telepathic skills to search for a missing vampire. She's supposed to interview certain humans involved. There's just one condition: The vampires must promise to behave - and let the humans go unharmed. Easier said than done. All it takes is one delicious blonde and one small mistake for things to turn deadly.

Club Dead

There's only one vampire Sookie Stackhouse is involved with (at least voluntarily) and that's Bill. But recently he's been a little distant - in another state distant. His sinister and sexy boss, Eric, has an idea where to find him. Next thing Sookie knows, she is off to Jackson, Mississippi, to mingle with the under-underworld at Club Dead. It's a dangerous little haunt where the elitist vampire society can go to chill out and suck down some type O. But when Sookie finally finds Bill - caught in an act of serious betrayal - she's not sure whether to save him... or sharpen some stakes.

YAY My NaNo Mock Cover

All Bree wanted to do was spend her Friday night with the man she loved and adored. Planning to watch a movie together, she never would've believed that leaving her home would result in her relationship with Quinn being tested beyond its limits. Unknown to her, the Fae have been planning for centuries to invade Earth, their plans finally starting that night. Through a shocking turn of events, Bree finds herself battling to save Quinn from himself as he stalks her relentlessly, heavily under the influence of the Fae. If this wasn't enough, Bree discovers a startling truth about her heritage as she teams up with others to drive the Fae back across the veil. Way over her head, Bree has no other choice but to fight, leading her to a confrontation that will change her world forever.

I am so giddy!! I've been staring at my screen all day and even though I know what I want to be writing, I keep getting distracted. I was scrolling through books (just because I'm on a book ban doesn't mean I can't look right? LOL) and I got to thinking what my NaNo novel would look like. So I started fiddling around and VOILA... here's what I came up with!! I was more focused on the look and feel of it than making it perfect but not bad huh? This makes it a little more real and helps renew my enthusiasm to finish. 17 more days left everyone - I'm half way through :)

*The people I used for the cover are Jake Gyllenhaal for Liam, Mandy Moore for Bree and Tom Welling for Quinn*

I'm Still Here ... Typing Furiously

I've been missing my blog this week and some of the memes I participate in and for those wondering where I am, I'm still here in the back ground. I took up the NaNoWriMo challenge this month and trying to give a really serious go at it. With work, family, keeping up with reviewing commitments and then throwing the daily goal of writing 1700 words, unfortunately something had to give and my blog drew the short straw.

I'm doing really well so far in writing my novel (hahaha that sounds so weird to see myself type that) and it's an amazing experience. I'm a perfectionist and I'm really having to learn to let that go and just let the story run its course. I learned rather quickly that forcing the storyline one way when the characters want to go another leads to nothing but me staring at my laptop. When I let them have free rein, letting them know the direction, I can't type fast enough and they always end up surprising me. It's unique to say the least being on the other side of a book and it's giving me a deeper appreciation, sense of gratitude and all round awe for authors. The process is all consuming, alot emotions being poured into creating the story and it sparks the need of making sure I'm respectful to those that provide me hours of amazing reading. Books don't just create themselves (even though in my case it'd be nice if they did) Anyway, just some of the thoughts that've popped up over the past week. Hope you're all doing well and enjoy your weekend. Happy reading !!
