Author Spotlight - L.M. Pruitt Interview with Reviews

When preparing for my part of L.M.'s blog tour, I couldn't decide what I wanted to include - her guest blog or to ask a few questions of my own. Being the indecisive person that I am, after stewing over it, I said "Screw it" and decided to include both. So I divided them up to avoid having a SUPER long post - an introduction to L.M. and her entry in one and my interview with her and BOTH of my reviews in the other. So please check both of the posts out - she is an amazing author and reading her books have been a really emotional experience for me.

Author Spotlight - L.M. Pruitt with Mini Blog

I am VERY excited to have L.M Pruitt, author of one of my FAVORITE new urban fantasy series, here as a guest on my blog. I only just discovered her two books, Shades Of Gray and Shades Of Desire  (both Jude Magdalyn novels) and if you've been anywhere near my blog the last few weeks, you've seen me use excerpts from them as my Tuesday Teasers. There's so much to share so let's get this party started (ugh did I really just say that?) by me sharing a little bit about L.M.

L.M. Pruitt has been reading and writing for as long as she can remember. A native of Florida, with a love of New Orleans, she has the uncanny ability to find humor in most things, and would probably kill a plastic plant. She is the author of Shades of Gray: A Jude Magdalyn Novel, the first in the Jude Magdalyn Series. She is currently at work on Shades of Desire, the second novel in the series, as well as New Moon Rising, a new series featuring Cari Gravier.

As part of her book blog tour, L.M. has been sharing some amazing insights into her books and some interesting information about New Orleans. For those of you who visit me, here's what the author wold like to share with us ... take it away L.M.   (click on title for the blog post)

Book Review: Shades Of Gray by L.M. Pruitt

Shades Of Gray
L.M. Pruitt / Urban Fantasy

Jude Magdalyn Henries has what some--okay, many--would call an unconventional life. Orphaned at birth, raised by nuns, teenage runaway, fake tarot card reader--there is very little about Jude that’s normal. Jude plays hard, which means she has to work at least semi-hard, but when she accepts an invitation to do a private tarot reading, “unconventional” takes on a whole new meaning. Almost nothing shocks Jude anymore, but when she finds out that she’s the last in a line of matriarchal leaders of a magical group...  Click to read more

I'd Like You All To Meet My Toby

I wanted to share with you all a photo of my little chi, Toby. He was such a beautiful little dog and was a wonderful surprise from my husband just under 2 years ago. It was really easy to fall in love with him and I loved coming home each day to loads of  little puppy kisses and excited tail wagging. He was an EXTREMELY patient dog because I'm known to put cute little shirts on my chis every now and then and each time I did he'd stand as still as he could with a look that said "Momma how can I be manly for all the other dogs when you insist I wear these shirts of yours" For all the time it took for me to put those suckers on, a few quick rolls on the floor and off the shirt would come, a look of triumph in his eyes. He was incredibly cheeky too. Trying to catch him took forever and he'd have me chasing him all over the house, crawling around on my hands and knees when he hid under the bed, always just out of reach. He'd peek out, I'd rush forward to grab him and I swear if a puppy could mwahahaha he would as he dart back under the bed. Then just as I start to get frustrated from all the running around and giving him my angry look, he'd dart out into the open, come to a complete stop and fall onto his back to show his belly, giving my this puppy dog eye look saying "Ohh  momma see how cute I am" *smile* He was a beloved dog, a cherished dog and now an incredibly missed dog. I hope they take good care of him where he is and they make sure to give him extra kisses because he liked those alot. I want to thank you all so much for the help you've been to me and through me to my family. Your kindness and support was a great blessing this weekend and I'll always be grateful. Thanks

Say Hello To The 'Lil Bookish Snob

Book Review - The Wicked by Stacey Kennedy

The Wicked
Stacey Kennedy / Urban Fantasy
Book Two in The Magical Sword series

Review written for The Romance Reviews

Nexi Jones knows two things--being half Guardian is tough--being half Witch is simply problematic. With her Guardian duties put on hold, she begins the grueling task of discovering her magical abilities, which tend to be unpredictable, at the best of times. At least, she has her luscious Guardian, Kyden to keep her grounded. That is, until the military-built, Ryker returns with a keen interest in being a constant thorn in her backside. With enough trouble controlling her powers--the added rivalry between the two tough Guardians leaves Nexi in urgent demand of a fire extinguisher.

Now, without them, her reason to live has vanished and she is determined to end her pain. The problem with that, it’s not heaven she wakes up to, it’s the Otherworld. Taking A New Rating System For A Test Drive

Ever since we "hopped" about it, I've been thinking about my rating system and how I wasn't happy with it. I base the ratings I give on how excited the book made me feel and I started noticing ALOT of fives because honestly I love the majority of the books I read. So I came up with this new system and I'm think I'll take it for a test drive to see how it feels. Here's hoping :)

A Heart Breaking Story About A Little City Library Who Said It Can't

Libraries are an amazing place for a reader to go because they hold so many wonderful stories just waiting to be discovered all in one place. They make reading accessible to everyone, taking away many barriers that have stopped people from picking up a good book and letting their imaginations run wild. To me, they're a vital part to any community and should be cherished above all else for the amazing resource and services they offer. So what happens to those libraries, where despite how loved it is by those that go there, stop being able to keep going in providing the fundamental elements that make a library a library? In My Mailbox #7

It doesn't matter if they were bought, sent through the mail or borrowed. It's a great opportunity to join in on the fun and share some of your "treasures" with everyone!!

So this week has been one that's made my stomach churn. I've honestly been think about putting myself a month long book ban (ugh just typing it I broke out in a sweat) and I've been trying to figure out how I can do it. I just posted my thoughts on this ( GULP Is There A Book Buying Ban In My Future? ) if you wanted to read it. You know, as long as something fits within the Fantasy/Paranormal/Romance genre, I'll read it. I'm really not a picky reader so I did an experiment this week and here's the results - my IMMB this week,

Haha. I seriously just heard the noise you made as you thought  "Belinda, you say you want to book ban yourself so you go out and go CRAZY PSYCHOTIC with your book buying??" I know what it looks like so maybe I should tell you my experiment. I wanted to see how many books I could get for a specific amount of money. My thinking is if I can't book ban myself, I can book budget myself at least and that's what I tested this week. Now these books came from a variety of places and I don't think it'll be this huge in the future but the thing I'm looking at is that for a book addict like myself - if I desperately need a book I can find one. So  take a look and try to guess how much they all cost *sits quietly while you look and guess*

GULP - Is There A Book Buying Ban In My Future?

Ok promise not to laugh but I've had some pretty serious conversations with myself this week that's left me feeling queasy and looking for the nearest brown paper bag to breath in. I love reading. I love the way that I can pick up a book and be pulled into an amazing story where I don't have to worry about all the different responsibilities I have. I can take that much needed breather and relax so as my life has become more and more stressful, books have become a vital part of maintaining my sanity. I share this only because this week I was putting away my recently bought books and found myself completely overwhelmed by just how crazy my book buying has become. Looking back over the last year especially, it's pretty obvious I've developed the habit of "Belinda you're stressed? Go buy a book" and I finally had to admit that maybe I need to do something about that. I took a quick look today and estimated that I could stop buying books and still have enough to read to last me another year. To me that's just crazy and so as much as it causes me anxiety (I'm finding it hard to breath as I type this) I think I need to have an intervention. (click on title)

"Tag, You're Awarded!"

This is an international game of tag and I've been tagged by Misha at My Love Affair With Books . I get to answer some questions about myself so you can get to know me better and then I tag four other bloggers so we can learn about them as well.

I woke up this morning to a wonderful surprise - Anna from Books To Brighten Your Mood and Angela from Touch The Night had sent me this cool award :) Here's what I need to do:

1. Thank and link back to the person that gave this award
2. Write 7 things about yourself
3. Pass the award along to 15 bloggers who you have recently discovered and who you think are fantastic
4. Contact the bloggers you've picked to let them know about the award
