In My Mailbox #13

Mailbox is a neat meme hosted by The Story Siren where we can celebrate some of the great books and treats we've received over the week. It doesn't matter if they were bought, sent through the mail or borrowed. It's a great opportunity to join in on the fun and share some of your "treasures" with everyone!!

( click on the title for my mailbox )

Update- NaNoWriMo challenge

It was a little scary at the beginning of the week because it seemed like all inspiration had disappeared but as of this second I've written 34,206 words - leaving a little under 16,000 words with 10 days left to finish. For the first time throughout all this, I can actually visualize myself completing it. My novel will be no way finished because my characters have hijacked the story but I'll have written the 50,000 words needed. I'm starting to think about what I want to do when it's finished as well. I know I have a loosely outlined book 2 and 3 that I'll need to start working on but after that who knows?  One step at a time right? Also for those interested, I posted the playlist I created for the novel Broken Promises music. I'm going to make a huge push tonight and tomorrow and if everything works out, I want to reach my goal by Monday so I can dedicate it to my BFF April who died November 22nd a year ago. Can't think of a better way to remember her :)

Week 4 in Book Buying Ban

I'm dedicating this week to my fellow Tweeple @NikiBrandyberry for her ingenious inventiveness in creating loopholes. Earlier this week I posted on FB and tweeted that I had read a book scene that was so vulgar to me, I wanted to take a blow torch to my imagination and burn it to the ground. This generated a pretty good conversation and the topic turned to the Demonica series. Seeing I hadn't read it, I was encouraged to check them out and when I mentioned I was on a ban @NikiBrandyBerry came up with this wonderful loophole - I needed to buy Pleasure UnBound for the "therapeutic recovery from the scars inflicted from the book." Who was I to argue with such great logic? LOL

Gratitude  Giveaway HOP

I'm giving away the first 3 books in the Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris. Make sure you enter for your chance to win. Giveaway ends November 28th 2010

Now that I've completely bored you, here's what my mailbox looked like this week :)

An Everlasting Bite by Stacey Kennedy - Liquid Silver via The Romance Reviews
Deadly Kisses by Brenda Joyce - Harlequinn via NetGalley
Deadly Illusions by Brenda Joyce - Harlequinn via NetGalley
Stone Kissed by Keri Stevens - Carina Press via NetGalley

Crimson Stained by Quinn C. Keitt - from E.J. at From The Shadows

Free - Kindle

House of Dark Shadows by Robert Liparulo
Lonestar Sanctuary by Colleen Coble
Love On A Dime by Cara Lynn James
The Paradise War by Stephen R. Lawhead
Rebel by Zoe Archer
My Christmas Wish by Ember Case
Holiday Bound by Beth Kery
Pack Challenge: Magnus Pack by Shelly Laurenston
Twas The Night by Sandra Hill, Kate Holmes and Trish Jensen
On The Run by Bill Myers
Snowy Night Seduction by Arianna Hart
Avempartha by Michael J. Sullivan
Portal (Portal Chronicles) by Imogen Rose - saw it on Twitter email for a copy

Also on Twitter - for a free PDF copy of Rachel Vincent's Reaper, a new Soul Screamers novella go to Books On Board. Make sure you register first and then click on the BUY tab. It'll give you the option then to download it for free. I'd hurry because it said it was for a limited time. You need Adobe Digital Edition and for those with NetGalley, you probably have the program already download. I did notice though when I downloaded it, I could save it as a regular PDF which tells me I can run it through my converter, change the format and download it to my Kindle. Good news for those that hate reading off the computer screen!

I want to give a HUGE shout out to Jackie from Housewife Blues and Chihuahua Stories. She's joined the my book buying ban commitment and made it a personal mission to help me find all the free ebooks she can find. AMAZING lady!!

Pleasure Unbound by Larissa Ione

So that's it for this week

 Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!!

Anytime you can find a loophole as good as the one Nikki came up with Belinda I say go for it, especially where the Demonica's are concerned! However you will have your eyeballs scorched in a good way with these books, you are gonna love it and have to buy all of them soon!

Got to love free e-books :-)

And yeah, I had to do something to make my book buying ban easier to follow with. 2 weeks on, 1 week off... unless I purchase one in which it cuts into my future weeks. Sounds complicated but it really lets me prioritize and read what I have (because I have a boat load of books I have yet to even begin to touch.)

Have a fab week!

Corrine said...

I love the loophole! I need to use that one! ;) Hope you enjoy all of the books you received this week! Happy reading! :D

We'll find every loophole we can! I've been wanting to read The Demonica series for awhile. I think I'm going to check paperbackswap cause that's not a part of my ban.

I just have to say... that is brilliant logic!!!
