Mailbox is a neat meme hosted by The Story Siren where we can celebrate some of the great books and treats we've received over the week. It doesn't matter if they were bought, sent through the mail or borrowed. It's a great opportunity to join in on the fun and share some of your "treasures" with everyone!!

Lots of things happening this week ...

Book Buying Ban Week #3

Finally SUCCESS!!  This week Marcia McClure's The Pirate Ruse came out as an ebook and it was one of the books I gave myself permission to read (remember I have the condition that I can buy the book if it's one I'll read STRAIGHT away) Right when I was about to buy it, I remembered that I have a VERY full review schedule and with NaNo happening at the same time, I honestly won't be able to read it until some time in December. So even though it's a book I'd read straight away, did it fit the condition? No and with strength I never knew I had ... I DIDN'T buy it!!! YAY for me LOL

NaNoWriMo Update

My gosh I am LOVING this challenge. I've written 4 chapters so far totaling just under 22,000 words and still going strong. I have NEVER been this far into anything I've written before and my head is buzzing from the rush it is to create something straight out of my imagination. My characters completely dictate the story now, my only hope is that they take pity on me and head in the direction I show them. I have the next two chapter loosely outlined in my head and so I'll be spending the rest of the weekend writing. I posted last night I'm Still Here... Typing Furiously to explain why I've been a little quiet and some of my insights from this week. Big thanks to those cheering for me and for those that have read what I've written so far and  not laughed themselves silly :)

Her co-worker, Lara Cox, decides it's time for both of them to find a partner with whom to share the Christmas holiday, and ends up dragging Kirsty, kicking and screaming, to a speed dating event in trendy Belltown. Even though both men are instantly enamored with Kirsty, she's just not convinced she has found Mr. Right. When a soldier, suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome due to the war in Iraq, walks through her office door, even though the idea of dating a client is taboo, Kirsty spends her days and nights fantasizing about the handsome Robbie Mitchell. Juggling two men she doesn't care for, and a fantasy man she cannot have, in between her hectic job and being on her own, Kirsty barely manages to keep sane. Child Of The Northern Spring
Persia Woolley

The story of a queen who deserves to become a legend - a startlingly original tale of Arthur & Guinevere
Often portrayed as spoiled, in Persia Woolley's hands Guinevere comes alive as a high-spirited, passionate woman. When she is chosen by Arthur to be his wife, Guinevere's independence wars with her family loyalty. As the wedding approaches and hints of rebellion abound, she learns that the old gods are in revolt against the new Christian church, and that scattered kingdoms are stirring from their uneasy peace. This is Arthurian epic at its best, filled with romance, adventure, authentic historical detail, and a landscape alive with the mystery of Britain in the Dark Ages.

Enemies and Playmates
Darcia Helle

When the abused decide to fight back, the abuser's world might just shatter. Lauren Covington's family maintains a grand facade that belies the life they live behind closed doors. Alex Covington, Lauren's father, keeps a tight rein on his family through dominance, abuse, and obsessive control. Consequently, Lauren doesn't believe she could ever trust a man, much less fall in love with one. When Lauren meets Jesse Ryder, her carefully constructed protective wall shatters. She falls hopelessly and completely in love. It's only fitting that Jesse is a private detective who had once worked for her father, had defied him, and was now the subject of Alex Covington's wrath. Amidst devastating loss, betrayal, and her father's destructive pursuit of Jesse, Lauren finds the trust and love she had always longed for.

Slow Ride: A Rough Riders Story

Good for you - you are stronger than you know!! I'm having a hard time not going out and getting all the Vampire Diaries books (I love the show, haven't read any of the books), but I know I won't have the time to get to them soon. Maybe Christmas break? Hmmmm....

Child Of The Northern Spring looks great, I need to go and grab that one if it's still free on the Kindle.

You have to love free e-books and NetGalley! They totally help keep in form with the book buying ban.

I came up with a new formula for me.

Two weeks on the ban. One week off. During that one week I can buy ONE 'major' book- or as many sale books as the cost of one HC new release. If I get more- due to major sale/clearance I have to forfeit for the amount of time it equals.

This is working so far :-)

Great work sticking to your ban! But you still managed to snag some great looking books! Happy reading, and
