Book Blogger Hop #14 / My Week In Review

November 5 - 8, 2010

Hosted by Jen at Crazy-For-Books

In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the Book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly BOOK PARTY is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!

"What are your feelings on losing followers?
Have you ever stopped following a blog?"

Hmmmm. I actually have two sets of feelings about losing followers - my initial reaction and the feelings I have once I've thought about it. This was something I tweeted about I think a month ago. I noticed that one moment my GFC said one number and then it would be different. My initial reaction was "OMG what did I do that someone doesn't want to follow me?" My mind would start going through the posts and reviews I'd recently done, thinking that I must have done something wrong. I LOVE Twitter because I got on and asked other bloggers what it meant and I really appreciated the replies I got. It's from those replies that my second set of feelings come from. If someone stops following my blog, it doesn't automatically mean that I did something wrong. In fact, it may have nothing to do with me and more to do with the follower. They may have stopped blogging, they may be sorting through their lists or even shock horror, they actually don't like my blog. There's loads of reasons. Although it does drive me nuts with not knowing, I try really hard to not let it make me doubt myself  or how I run my blog.  Funnily enough, just before I saw this question I saw that I lost a follower on my book review page. Of course first reaction was "Oh crap what's wrong with my reviews" but it was quickly followed with "Nothing Belinda. You write great reviews so don't let it bother you." People like what they like. If someone doesn't like my blog and decides to unfollow - I wish you luck and thank you for visiting. For those who do follow me - I really do appreciate your support. I love blogging and you guys make it fun :)

Do I unfollow? Nope. Do I visit everyone I follow? I try DANG hard too. That's part of why I love memes because it's structured in a way that I can visit and look around. Would I unfollow in the future? I don't know.

Week In Review

I bravely, with a huge dose of crazy, signed up as a participant for the NaNoWriMo challenge. I have no idea what's going to happen BUT I'm going to give it  my best and hopefully be that one step closer to completing the series I'm writing. So cross your fingers. You never know until you try right?

I'm also in the second week of my book buying ban and it's TORTURE. But for all the difficulty I have in not caving, the Book Gods have been generous and I've been receiving books from other sources. It takes the edge off. Now all I have to do is quit going to Walmart to look at the books :s

I hate to lose a follower, but I know it happens. :( Hopefully I get two or three after that, though, right? :) Here's my Hop: Coffee and a Book Chick -- Blog Hop...

Maybe lots of followers just sign up because of a contest? That is my rationale :)

I feel saddened when I lose followers, so I try not to ever unfollow a blog, even if I'm not a frequent visitor.

Here's my hop: http://jessica-agreatread.blogspot.com/2010/11/book-blogger-hop.html

I feel the exact same way that you do! I think I would be really worried if I lost a large number of followers all at once, but one or two we can't worry about.

I can't get Linky's to work on my computer so I'm not on the list but my blog hop is here

Hopping back. I hate losing followers, but I figure it's not personal and try to forget about it.

Maybe in the beginning I cared about losing followers, but now it don't stress it. They stop following and that's their loss.

I'm always a little bummed when I lose followers but make every effort to
turn every lost follower into a learning experience so I can improve my
performance.

On the flip side, I only stop following people when they give me a reason to
such as being totally off message or being too controversial in an negative,
over-the-top way.

Happy Book Blogger Hop Friday!

Sorry I didn't take part of Wanting for Payday the past two weeks, but last week was crazy and this week I was sick. By the way you forget to link the "here" to the post of Waiting for Pay Day.

I think I'd only be concerned if I lost a large number of followers all in one go - otherwise, I try not to take it personally as well. My take is that you just can't please everyone and if someone wants to unfollow you - it's their loss. On the flipside of the coin, I try not to unfollow bloggers - even if I don't get around to their blogs often.
