In My Mailbox #9

Mailbox is a neat meme hosted by The Story Siren where we can celebrate some of the great books and treats we've received over the week. It doesn't matter if they were bought, sent through the mail or borrowed. It's a great opportunity to join in on the fun and share some of your "treasures" with everyone!!

( click on the title for my mailbox )

This week I finally decided to take the plunge and starting from this upcoming Monday I'm officially putting myself on a book buying ban. I've given it alot of thought, looked at it from every possible way I could and really feel this is something I can be successful at. A HUGE part of my book buying addiction is my need for variety. I want to be able to reach into my treasure trove of books and find a story for all occasions, moods and emotions. So this week, in my research to be successful, I've looked around at websites that off free books. Here's what I found ..

*Please excuse the lack of photos but with so many books, creating the image was too overwhelming*

 Free Books

  • The Complete Collection of Jane Austen
  • A Variety of Classics - Little Women, Dracula, Beauty & The Beast, The Secret Garden
  • Fairytale Collection by Andrew Lang
  • Books on Myths and Legends by a variety of authors
  • The Bite Before Christmas by Heidi Betts
  • Only You by Deborah Grace Staley
  • Dixie Divas by Virgina Brown
  • Dawn's Prelude by Tracie Peterson

 Barnes & Noble
  • Maximum Ride - FANG by James Patterson
  • Pride & Prejudice & Zombies by Steve Hockensmith
  • The Day Of The Dead by Karen Chance

Smashwords - SPOTLIGHT FIND of the WEEK
  • The Demon Girl by Penelope Fletcher
  • Nephilim by Jana Hunt
  • Lilith's Love by Dan Shaurette
  • Fated - A Doomsday Brethren by Shayla Black
  • Black Silk by Jan Gordon
  • Deadly Intent by Violet Tyler
  • The Keeping by Nicky Charles
  • The Mating by Nicky Charles
  • Mortal Ghost by L. Lee Lowe
  • Heart Of Glass by LA Dale
  • The Healer's Stone by PE Alty
  • A World Within by James Somers
  • Undeniable by Gayle Eden
  • In The Garden Of Temptation by Cynthia Wicklund

Here are some of the other books I got this week

  • Shades of Desire by L.M. Pruitt
  • A Tournament Knight
  • The Ghost Hunter by Lori Brighton
  • Always by Jodi Langston
  • Seducing The Vampire by Michelle Hauf

One last spending spree
  • Nightshade by Andrea Creme - Kindle
  • Crescendo by Becca Fitzpatrick - Kindle
  • Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr - Bookmans
  • Ink Exchange by Melissa Marr - Bookmans
  • Lullaby by Sarah Dessen - Bookmans
  • Jasmine by Brenda Bailey - Smashwords
  • Dark Lands: Homecoming by Autumn Dawn - Smashwords
  • The Commander's Desire by Jeanette Green - Smashwords

Just one final thing ...

I took the plunge and for my birthday my husband bought me a Kindle. After weighing out the pros/cons and asking ALOT of questions I realized the following:

1. I can download all the free ebooks I find
2. I can have the NetGalleys I receive sent to it
3. I can convert the PDF format and download the author requests I receive

Seeing I'm getting more and more books that I have to read on my laptop it just made the most sense and so I have officially stepped into the 21st century of book reading.

I'm trying to decide between a Kindle and the Nook. What made you decide on the Kindle?

I'm getting ready to read some Jane Austen. Once of my favorite movies is The Jane Austen Book Club, but I haven't read any of her novels. I am so ashamed.

Great haul this week!

You got so many books this week! I just received Crescendo last week, I hope it's good :)

I'm still not sure if I should get a Kindle or not, my birthday has past and my Mum and Dad are still waiting for me to make my mind up, decisions, decisions! I know some books aren't available to purchase cos I'm in Australia which is a bit of a bummer but it's not too bad I guess, I've got some thinking to do ...

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Romy :)

Welcome to the E-Reader world! I don't have a Kindle I actually have a Nook and I LOVE my e-reader! It saves me a ton on both books and the gas that I would use to go buy books at the nearest bookstore 20 miles away.

Yay! Happy Birthday. Your going to love your Kindle especially if you have been reading ebooks on your laptop. Great mailbox.

Wow. That's a lot of reading to do! I'm curious, is Beauty and the Beast just the original fairy tale? I love fairy tales, that's why I ask!

And the book of myths and legends also sounds intriguing. What's the actual title and author/editor to that one! I'm curious to check that out too!!

Here's my mailbox, nothing entirely special really and I already had the one book, but still gotta love winning a book!

I'm hoping for a Kindle for Christmas so I can take advantage of Netgallery.

To answer your question about the 18 Marcia Lynn McClure books I got. I help run the MLM fansite so Marcia gave me a great deal on the books. I have 12 more coming this week. Still a big chunk of money but I just adore her and love sharing her books with others.
