In My Mailbox #8

Mailbox is a neat meme hosted by The Story Siren where we can celebrate some of the great books and treats we've received over the week. It doesn't matter if they were bought, sent through the mail or borrowed. It's a great opportunity to join in on the fun and share some of your "treasures" with everyone!!

( click on the title for my mailbox )

You're going to have to bear with me this week. I wasn't going to take part in IMMB this week because this afternoon my husband brought in my 2 year old chihuahua and he was in the middle of severe convulsions. For those who were with me via Twitter during that I want to say how very DEEPLY I appreciate you. You helped keep me out of a blind panic and kept me focused. Toby (my little chi) was rushed to the vet where it was found he had the crazy temperature of 110 degrees - actually the thermometer said his fever was too high to register and so that's where my poor little puppy is now. We don't know if he'll have brain damage, we don't even know if he'll live so I've been sitting on my couch for hours in a numb stupor. I finally figured I better stick to what I usually do on a Saturday evening and preparing my IMMB post is one of those things. So here's the small hoard of free and 99c books I got this week and if you will, please pray/send good thoughts for my little Toby because losing him will devastate my family. Thanks *offers a sad smile*

Oh my goodness, I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm ashamed I wasn't even on twitter today to at least give you support. :( Poor Toby, I really hope he'll be okay. I know how worrisome it is to have our dogs be ill or being rushed to the vet. Hang in there. *hugs* :(

You got a huge haul this week. I'm seriously surprised at how many books you get for free on the Kindle. Jealous of your Bloodthirsty purchase. And thanks for the spotlight for Whispers of a Witch/Hallowed Eve. Those two look really good, so I might have to take up on that!

Here's my IMM this week.

I'm sorry about your puppy. I hope he gets better real soon. I lost both my cats last year about a month apart so I know how hard it is to lose a pet. On the bright side it looks like your cutting back on buying is going well. I'm going on a book ban myself if you care to join. I bought a ton this weekend and really just need to start reading through the stacks before they get out of control. We could keep each other in check. Take care!

Great reads this week! Hope the coming week is a calm one for you!

I really want to read The Exiled Queen! I need to pick that one up.

I hope your chihuahua gets better soon! The poor little thing. I used to have one when I was younger. He was such an amazing little dog with a big attitude, and I'm sure yours is just as awesome.

Oh no, your poor dog! I hope he gets better and that you hear from the vet soon. I can just imagine how frantic you must be. I hope you can distract yourself with reading.

Wait, you bought the Curran POV book? But I thought it was available for free in Smashwords. That's where I got my copy.

I hope Toby gets better soon. I am sending positive thoughts your way. I know how close a dog can be w/ your family- it's like having a kid. Please keep us updated on him!

You have some awesome books this week. I've always wanted to read Vincent's books! I hope you enjoy it and I liked Marr's first book, but never got around to reading the other books in the series! Enjoy all of them!

Belinda poor Toby, poor you and your poor hubs too! how awful for a little Chi only 2 to be going through this. My Nikki is 11 now and has had seizures since he was a 4 month old pup and fell on his head onto our tile floor from about the height of my knees, it was the worst day of my life.. Since then when he "spikes" a high temp for whatever reason he also goes into convulsions... I guess what I am trying to say is there is hope that Toby will live, maybe as long or longer than my little Chi and there is also hope that if you are all lucky the seizures will slow down like Nikki's and just occur occasionally... You are all in my prayers and my thoughts and God willing all will work out in a way that is happy for all of you!

On a nicer note I am now heading to Amazon armed with a list of "freebies" that have not gotten yet thanks to you!

jackie :-) I hope the next news you have is positive!

OMG! I'm so sorry to hear about your puppy. The weird thing is my dog has being having this same problem. Last week or the week before he started have convulsions and at night and he had stopped, then that morning he went into full blown and didnt stop til I took him to the vet where the kept him, gave him some meds to calm him down, and ran test on him. Turns out he has epilepsy. He's temp was like 103 vet said that was kinda high but near normal :( so I know the feeling all to well with the pup I was bawling my eyes the whole time. The vet was tryin to calm me down.(side note his name is toby too hes my doxie)

Anywho, you have some nice books there I have the first book in the wicked lovely series I need to get the others so I have them on hand when i finish reding the first one, and all the others look awesome too. Enjoy yours books. Your doggie is in my prayers.
