In My Mailbox #10

Mailbox is a neat meme hosted by The Story Siren where we can celebrate some of the great books and treats we've received over the week. It doesn't matter if they were bought, sent through the mail or borrowed. It's a great opportunity to join in on the fun and share some of your "treasures" with everyone!!

News on the book buying ban - Week ONE

I've put alot of thought into this ban and came up with a way that I can be successful. I was going to post about it, and I still will, but I've been sick so haven't done it yet. The only stipulation that I've allowed myself - a kind of freebie if you will, is that I'm allowed to buy those books that are "OMG I have to have this book so bad I'm going to stop EVERYTHING I'm doing and read it STRAIGHT away" Examples for me are Sacrifice by Richelle Mead and Shadowfever by Karen M Moning etc etc you get my meaning. I know what books fit the category and so other than that I buy no new books. Having said that, I began this past Monday and it was HELL. I can't believe how often I go to buy books without even thinking about it!! I tortured myself looking through the book section on Tuesday at Walmart and seriously I was spared solely because I saw nothing. I think I got a little cocky after that and less vigilant because I'm ashamed to say that Friday I bought THREE books and didn't even blink an eye. It wasn't until I was back at work that it HIT me what I'd done. Without even being aware of it!! I can't even tell you what the books were and I know they'll be sitting on my bookshelves for forever. So lesson learned loud and clear this week and I'm renewing my commitment to the ban. Cross your fingers this next week I'll be a good girl.

Don't forget - Today's the LAST day to enter my SPOKTACULAR and Bite Me, Change Me, Corrupt Me giveaways

Great post...I didnt buy anything this past week either...*sigh* Do you read the smashwords books on your computer? Or can you put them on a kindle and actually read them correctly...I find that pdf's suck on my kindle so I end up reading on the computer.

Bravo on the book-buying ban! I am trying to do the same myself. You got a lot of great stuff to read this week. I'm MOST jealous of Mermaid's Mirror. That's definitely on my to-read list!

That is one massively awesome pile of books! I've got a few of the same books from NetGalley and can't wait to read them. And good luck this week on the book buying ban - it is definitely tough but you can do it :)

I've really tried to cut back on the book buying but, as you saw, it didn't really work. I can't help it. I'm a book-a-holic.

Nice IMM yourself, though!

Tons of Goodies for you! Super YAY! :)
Actually, if you think about it.. Your book ban shouldn't be sooo hard when you can get books through Smashwords and NetGalley! Freebies ROck! ;)
I don't have a Kindle and refuse to read books on my Blackberry or laptop.
However, I NEED to enforce this book ban upon myself! Like NOW! :)
I hope you enjoy your books!

Wow - what a great pile of books! And ooohhh a buying ban. Those are painful! Good luck! When I did one I found it worked best to give myself one credit per week or so, because else I just caved badly!

But it is so hard to be a good girl when books are so shinny and pretty!

Looks like you have a lot of great reading ahead of you! I hope you enjoy.

Zombie Romance?! Really! Wow, I'm gonna have to check that one out. :D

Fab pile of books there! Good luck with the buying ban - I did one for the month of September and found it soooo hard but have been fairly good since then!
