Ok ... I Just Gotta Know

I've been reading through the blogs I follow, using the miraculous discovery I made last week (insert hallelujah chorus) Google reader and I have to say I'm loving it. Cool posts, amazing reviews (alot of books were added tonight to my Goodreads TBR list) and for the first time, I really took a closer look at the giveaways. I've never been a very lucky person so the idea of entering something I feel I'm doomed never to win, I kinda shy away from. But after all my new found bravado this week (telling the world about your dream kissing partner kind of does that) I figured "Why not?" LOTS of good giveaways and it raised a really important question that I'd really like some help with. How do you all receive ARCs of upcoming books? I'm a newbie and so I review the books either I already have, just bought or had the fortune of the author email me. I'd  really like to learn more about the process and who I would need to approach. Any advice would be VERY MUCH welcomed and GREATLY appreciated (I'd be on my knees if I could but I'm so tired right now I don't think I'd be able to get back up) Thanks for your help :D

Hey! ARC's are always a huge discussion topic in the blogosphere.

Really, Kristi AKA The Story Siren sums it up best. She has a blog advice section of her site that really helped me out when I first started and she discusses this topic and soooo many more.

Here's the link to the one that deals with ARC's specifically!

I hope that helps some!

No idea about ARCS apart from the fact that you guys get them a lot more than we do over here in the UK lol.

To add to that, join Book Blogs on Ning (just google that it's easy to find). Several publishers and publicists are on there and you can get access to ARCs and giveaway copies on there. Be proactive and introduce yourself to various publicists. Tell them who you are and about your blog and what you like to read and see what they say.

I sign up for a lot of ARC tours, especially on Star Book Tours.

You have to pay for postage, but it's worth it.

I join ARC tour sites, like Crazy Book Tours and Good Golly Miss Holly and YA Addict. Other than that, it's from the authors, but those are few and far between.

The easiest way (if you don't mind reading PDFs) is through NetGalley. Also the more book reviews you write the more likely you are to catch the attention of publicists and publishing houses.
