The Book Blogger Hop #1

August 6 - 9, 2010

I love going to other book reviewing blogs and seeing some of the fun things they're getting up to. I've learned about alot of cool books that are out there that I haven't heard about before and so when my TBR pile goes even more ridiculously high and my bank account dwindles down to pennies, I can safely say "Oh honey, it's not my fault. Look at all these bloggers and what they're saying about the books. I just HAD to buy them" (*wink* that's the key to getting away with things - having a good alibi beforehand) Anyway, some of the blog sites I've visited had this icon on it and I thought it sounded like a good idea to become a part of. This is the blurb to explain it :

writes : In the spirit of the Twitter Friday Follow, the book Blogger Hop is a place just for book bloggers and readers to connect and share our love of the written word! This weekly Book Party is an awesome opportunity for book bloggers to connect with other book lovers, make new friends, support each other, and generally just share our love of books! It will also give blog readers a chance to find other book blogs to read!!

Each week, Crazy-For-Books provides a question, that everyone involved with the Hop answers on their sites. This weeks question is "Do you listen to music when you read? If so, what are your favorite reading tunes?"

I don't really listen to music while I'm reading. If it's playing at the time, then it's something my family has chosen and as long as it isn't too distracting, most times it doesn't bother me and it becomes part of the background. I get pretty caught up in what I'm reading (my hubby tells me the world could be ending and I wouldn't notice) and honestly, if I chose music to listen AND read, it would drive me nuts because my focus would be divided. However, it's a totally different story when I'm writing. I'm always looking for music that kind of matches the feel of what I'm writing and when I've found those songs, I play them over and over and over again. Right now, (insert rant) I LOVE LOVE LOVE Adam Lambert because I feel he looked inside my head and made his album for my story. I have driven my family BONKERS because it's all we listen to, wherever we are and they've quickly realized they no longer have MP3 access. It is so crazy right now that I swear, last night my husband was snoring to the beat of "For Your Entertainment" Poor man, can't escape it anywhere :)

So there you have it, each weekend I'll post the new question and my response. I also encourage you to visit and visit the list of other book bloggers there. There's alot of fabulous people out there with alot of things to say about the books they love. But of course, keep coming back here because nothing beats the thoughts of the Bookish Snob :)

No music for me. I was looking at your "sexiest" men. I didn't like Adam Black much until he gave up his immortality for his Sidhe-seer. Before he was just a pain. Must disagree that anyone other than RP could be Edward, at this point. If RP can ever escape being Edward will be interesting.
Following you - hope you will stiop byFangs, Wands and Fairy Dust

Hey Steph,

I laughed about what you thought of Adam because in real life, he'd probably annoy me too. When I re read him, I was HEAVILY into my "sexy bad boy" phase and he was just the ultimate for me. I think I ranted about him to everyone for a good chunk of time.
I liked what you write on your site and you definitely give your readers alot to think about. I'm following you back :)

No music for me either. If I'm reading I tune everything else out.

By the way, I love your site and have just signed up as a follower. Perhaps when you have a few minutes you'd like to drop by my blog and take a look around.

All the best - J x

Yes, I agree -- no music for reading but definitely for writing! I think it's the distraction vs. getting in the mood thing. I need to be in a certain frame of mind to write, but I let the book that I'm reading take me where it wants me to go -- don't need music to do that.

Am following you now on Twitter... great blog!
